This Walk Wednesday, we want to highlight our Breakthrough T1D Walk Chair and Board Member, Craig Vaream! "Walk has always been an important part of my journey of acceptance with T1D. I remember being a walk participant on Long Island the same month I was diagnosed and realized then I was not alone. The opportunity to chair this event and meet so many incredibly strong and resilient fellow T1Ds of all ages motivates me even more to ensure that diabetes doesn’t own me rather I own it." Join Craig at an upcoming Breakthrough T1D Walk by registering now at Walk.Breakthrought1d.org and be part of the passionate T1D community!

In less than two weeks the Greater New York Metro Ride Team is officially kicking off the season and heading to Burlington, VT for the first Breakthrough T1D Ride of the 2024 season! Meet Rochelle, Syd & Jennifer- Rochelle & Syd are a mother-daughter duo riding with friend Jennifer to honor Jessica! Syd's sister was diagnosed with T1D in 2011 just after her 12th birthday. They know that their family is willing to go to great lengths, even riding hundreds of miles, to find a cure for Jessica! "This year we are riding in Burlington, Vermont! As a family, we are still committed to raising awareness, fundraising, and advocating for T1D so that a cure is found for Jessica and the millions of others living with this disease. Thanks to the research funded by the JDRF, Jessica has seen great advances in technology in the 13 years she has been living with T1D. She uses a hybrid closed-loop Artificial Pancreas System (a continuous glucose monitor that measures her blood sugar and communicates with her insulin pump), which adjusts the amount of insulin she receives. It has simplified her life but it is not a cure!" To join the team this season, head to Ride.Breakthrought1d.Org
