EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | Meet Abby Coram, STNA and Med Tech at the Health Care Center! Abby started at BCV as an STNA about 4 ½ years ago at the Health Care Center after a friend referred her. She was originally influenced to get her STNA by her mother, who was sick with ALS. Since then, she has become a Med Tech! When asked how working at BCV has impacted her growth, she said, “I enjoy my job. It has given me the opportunity to advance, and I am appreciative of that!” Eventually, her goal is to become an LPN, we have faith she will do just that! Thank you for all that you do, Abby! We appreciate you!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | Meet Lori Welch, Homemaker at the Bradford Houses! A year and a half ago, Lori stumbled upon our Facebook feed. She was inspired by all of our activities and the smiles in the photos! She decided to apply for the Homemaker position, and the rest is history! She thoroughly enjoys her job, and having the ability to make the residents' time here as positive as possible. The best thing to her is how much the residents feel like family. When asked how working at BCV has impacted her growth, she said, "there is always room to grow and learn to do better." Some interesting traits about Lori are she likes to organize parties, loves dogs, loves to camp, loves family gatherings, and favorite sports teams are the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Guardians!🏉⚾ Thank you for all that you do Lori, we are so glad to have you on our team!❤

Every year, we send an employee from Brethren Care Village to participate in Leadership Ashland, a 10 month program that helps members enhance leadership skills, discover community assets, and more. Within this year's graduating class is our Program & Development Manager, Kyleah Galbraith! On Friday, the class had their graduation ceremony and unveiled their successful project of trail markers at Freer Field that afternoon. This project will be incredibly helpful for years to come. Congratulations Kyleah and the rest of the Leadership Ashland Class of 2024 on your success and for graduating from a fantastic program!

Employee Spotlight | Meet Leigh Ann Holmes, STNA! Leigh Ann has been an STNA at the Health Care Center for almost 30 years (her 30th anniversary is coming up in August!). She enjoys her job because she loves caring for the elderly and hearing their stories. She says the love, appreciation, and hugs from the residents mean more than any compensation she could ever receive. She has been married to her husband Rick for 40 years. Together, they have three children, two sons-in-law, four grandchildren and a dog. She loves spending time with her family! When asked how working at Brethren Care has impacted her growth, she said: “I have learned a lot about medical terms and different medications. My dad was in a nursing home and while he was there, I was able to explain to my family what was going on with him and his care. Also, caring for blind residents over the years helped prepare me for a grandchild who was born legally blind!” Anyone who knows Leigh Ann knows she is always smiling! She says it is her best trait. Leigh Ann, no words could describe how deeply grateful we are for you and your years of service to our residents. You are a rare gem! Thank you for all that you do. ❤️

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | Meet Linda King, Cook at the Health Care Center! Linda has worked here at BCV for 7 years. She originally started with the hope to have a stable job where she was able to help people. She has been here ever since! She enjoys her job, and is grateful she has gotten to meet so many people in her years here. Linda has been cooking since the 11th grade, her favorite part of cooking is making people happy with her food! Linda, thank you for all you do! We appreciate you!💙

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | Meet Quiana White, Care Companion for Brethren Care at Home! Quiana has worked for our Home Care department for about 9 months now. Her favorite part of the job are the residents. She said the staff have been great to work with as well! When asked how BCV has impacted her growth, she said, "I went to law school in the past. I've always wanted to be a juvenile attorney. I have also worked in a corporate setting for over 20 years. I am glad my life path led me here to BCV!" Quiana also shared this interesting fact about her life, "I have identical twin boys that are 6 years old. They are both autistic, and make life interesting every day. They are my world. My goals are to be the best mom possible. I also want to be a bigger advocate for autism in general. The spectrum is diverse and beautiful. I believe so many people have skewed view of those with autism and neurodivergent disabilities. I believe it is just a lack of understanding. I would love to get the word out that their world is not weird, but different. It's always ok to be different! My boys and God are my driving force every day. I stay positive and prayerful to be an advocate and voice for them." Quiana, thank you for all you do! You are a great addition to our Home Care team!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | Meet Morgan Huff, Culinary Supervisor at Brookwood Place! Morgan started as a cook here at BCV 4 years ago and has recently transitioned into the Supervisor role. She loves being able to provide the residents with a home cooked meal, and hearing how much they love her cooking. Since starting as a cook, she has been able to take a lot of pride in not only the food she prepares, but also just her work in general. When asked how working here at BCV has impacted her growth, she said, “I got the opportunity to move up to the Culinary Supervisor role, taking the place of our past supervisor, Kim. Trying to run things as well as she did was intimidating at first, but I am very excited about this opportunity and look forward to bringing some new things to our menu and keep improving our kitchen!” Morgan, you are doing great in your new role! EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | Meet Hannah Clark, Care Companion with our Home Health department! Hannah has been working here at BCV as an STNA Care Companion for about 5 months. She loves the residents here, and the willingness of the staff to help everyone out across campus! She brings much compassion, patience and commitment to the Brethren Care at Home team with her exceptional work ethic. We appreciate her hard work and dedication to our residents! She is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, and has lived in Huntsville, Alabama and Columbus, Ohio before setting in Mansfield, where she currently lives with her family. She is inspired by God, her family, and has a great appreciation for anyone who encourages her. In her spare time, she loves to spend time with her friends and family, taking naps, playing with her dog and working out. She also likes to sing! Her future plans are to attend college to become a Physical Therapy Assistant, and eventually become a Doctor or Physical Therapist. She plans to continue working as an STNA while attending college. She is an amazing student in her school program, and is a positive role model in the community. She has a bright future ahead! Thank you, Hannah! EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | Meet Shelby Myers, Homemaker at the Bradford Houses! Shelby has worked here for almost two years. After high school, she knew she wanted to work with the elderly in some capacity. She had heard BCV had great values and morals, so decided to join the team! She enjoys her job and is grateful to work with such a great group of people! She loves learning new ways of doing things. Meeting new residents and learning about them and hearing their life stories is one of her favorite things about her job! Thank you Shelby for all that you do! We are thankful to have you! 💜

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | Meet Social Services Designee, Melanie Fitch! Melanie has worked at the Health Care Center for approximately a year and a half in the Social Services department. Her favorite part of our campus is even though it is large, it still has a small family feel. She has a heart for seniors and greatly enjoys working with them! She is engaged, and getting married in July. Melanie is a farm girl at heart! Growing up, she did not have the typical pets like cats and dogs, she had goats, sheep, rabbits and horses! She has been a 4-H advisor for 15 years. She is a family girl as well, she has multiple nieces and nephews and loves to attend their sports games and school functions. Melanie’s favorite color is blue, favorite food is ice cream, and favorite animal is a goat! Melanie, thank you for all you do every day!
