On May 9th, Boyce Thompson Arboretum had the pleasure of welcoming volunteers from Resolution Copper for a day of impactful community service! Their dedication and hard work brought significant improvements to our Arboretum, ensuring a safer and more beautiful environment for all our visitors. Resolution Copper volunteers tackled several critical projects with great enthusiasm. One team focused on removing brush alongside Arboretum Way, significantly reducing fire danger. Another team removed small trees growing against the asphalt, preventing potential damage and maintaining clear pathways. Additionally, a dedicated group cut down grass and dried annuals from below power lines, ensuring the safety and aesthetics of the area. Finally, the last team worked diligently to salvage cacti from the area designated for our expanded overflow parking lot, preserving these precious plants for future use. We are immensely grateful for the support of Resolution Copper. Their efforts exemplify the power of community and the positive impact of corporate volunteerism. On April 13th, Boyce Thompson Arboretum had the privilege of hosting Intel for its second annual Intel Family Volunteer Day! Intel employees and their families rolled up their sleeves alongside BTA Board Member and Communications Director for Intel, Linda Qian, and our horticulture team to make a big difference in our garden. From tending to our gardens to cleaning up our children’s learning center and benches, every moment spent together was a testament to the power of community and the importance of environmental conservation. We're deeply grateful for the support of Intel, whose partnership enables us to continue our water conservation efforts through their title sponsorship of our Water Wise Initiative. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team for their shared commitment to preserving our ecosystems. As we commemorate our centennial, we're excited to launch our 100 Tree Spree initiative. We're committed to planting 100 native trees at public institutions, schools, and non-profit organizations throughout the Copper Corridor, valley-metro, and our neighboring communities. An effective way to combat the many pressures our environment is facing from the ongoing climate crisis is to plant trees. Trees provide shade, thus reducing energy costs, clean our air, offset carbon emissions, improve water quality, and promote biodiversity Don’t let this opportunity slip away! Submit your application for a FREE tree by October 15th. Visit https://lnkd.in/gAHu4Gsz to apply today!
