Building and Land Technology was honored to host the 2024 City of Stamford College Intern Summer Social at our Harbor Point Boardwalk. This fantastic networking event brought together interns from across the city to connect with peers and professionals.   Interns from companies such as Phillips, Synchrony, and Charter enjoyed a delicious assortment of watermelon, sorbets, and other treats while discussing experiences, career aspirations, and future plans. Participants hailed from all over the country and even internationally, sharing stories from as far away as California, Louisiana, and London.   The social was also highlighted by a visit from Stamford’s Mayor, Caroline Simmons, who thanked the interns for their contributions to the workforce. Our summer 2024 Internship Program is in full swing! Building and Land Technology was thrilled to welcome five interns into our dynamic Live, Work, Play community at Harbor Point located in Stamford, CT this summer. Across various departments, from Accounting to Marketing to IT, our interns have been exploring different fields and working on numerous projects throughout the company. We sat down with them to discuss their experiences and the impact of their time at BLT. Darline Fleurimond, our IT intern since January, manages our corporate mobile devices and enjoys seeing her classwork applied in real life. “In my information assurance class, we learned about role-based access controls, and in my internship, I see this concept put into play,” she shared. Darline is finishing her degree at Western Connecticut State University, majoring in Management Information Systems with a concentration in Information Security Management. She plans to leverage her experience at BLT to pursue a career in the tech industry. In the Accounting department, Melanie Vazquez has been interning for nearly a year and described her experience as “a rollercoaster in a good way.” She started with scanning and filing and transitioned into AP accounting, taking on her own commercial and construction properties. “Handling my own properties has really opened my eyes to what I want to do once I graduate,” she said. Melanie’s work at BLT has confirmed her passion for a career in accounting. Erin Dunn, our Social Media intern, expressed her love for the Harbor Point community as her favorite part of the internship. “I love having the ability to experience Harbor Point,” she said. “It is such a vibrant community, and part of my job is to capture all the wonderful activities and events that happen here.” Fellow intern Chris Butler agreed, stating, “My favorite part of this internship is working with such great people. Getting to know them and their responsibilities has definitely been the highlight of this experience.” Here at BLT, we take pride in creating a fulfilling working environment; one that encourages growth, learning, and community well-being. Today, at Building and Land Technology, we commemorate Juneteenth, a pivotal day in American history.   On June 19th, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas, liberating nearly 250,000 enslaved African Americans and marking the end of slavery in the United States. This significant day, known as Juneteenth, was federally recognized as a holiday in 2021.   At BLT, we deeply respect the profound significance of Juneteenth and invite you to join us in reflection on its importance.
