Last week, our team joined our suppliers, Niman Ranch and True Story Foods, and some of their incredible farmers, Trisha Zachman and Russ Kremer, in Washington, DC to meet with law makers in the House and Senate and share our strong opposition to the Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act.   This bill, found in the upcoming Farm Bill, would overturn common-sense animal welfare laws including Massachusetts Question 3 and California’s Prop 12, has tremendous negative impact on farmers and their livelihoods, and goes directly against ButcherBox’s mission to transform the meat industry by doing right by animals, farmers, and the planet.   We are grateful to U.S. Representative Jim McGovern (MA-2) and U.S. Representative Jim Costa (CA-21) for meeting with our team as we shared our commitment to this issue through our open letter to Congress that was supported by 24 food brands, including Whole Foods Market, Thrive Market and Applegate.   Read our coalition’s open letter to Congress ⬇️ https://bchrbox.co/EATsAct   #FarmBill #EATsAct #ButcherBox

This week, the House of Representative’s released the framework of their proposed 2024 Farm Bill, which include a version of the EATs Act — a piece of legislation ButcherBox has been opposing for months alongside Whole Foods Market, Niman Ranch, True Story Foods, Thrive Market, and more than 20 others.   This bill would overturn common-sense animal welfare laws including California’s Prop 12 and MA Q3 and goes directly against ButcherBox’s mission to transform the meat industry by doing right by animals, farmers, and the planet. ButcherBox is dedicated to continuing our opposition to this bill by urging our Congressional members and leadership to keep EATs language out of the final bill text.
