While we all incline towards being more data-oriented, so many parts of critical decision making is left to ✨ vibes ✨. Studies show the use of rubrics leads to a 34% (!!) improvement in hiring accuracy, while reducing bias. Yet when asking most interviewers how they are measuring a candidate's ability to on critical skills like "working with others" or "translating ideas to code", the answer is some form of "I just know if they are good based on their overall performance" or we have a very sophisticated system of...pass / no pass.
