CalOptima Health was recognized at Santa Ana’s City Council Meeting last week for planning and executing a successful inaugural Back-to-School event hosted by Santa Ana Mayor Valerie Amezcua. Through our collaboration with the city, 2,200 Santa Ana community members received backpacks, haircuts, mobile health services and access to over 60 community resources. As Orange County’s largest health insurer, we provide coverage through four major programs. - Medi-Cal (California's Medicaid Program) for low-income children, adults, seniors and people with disabilities - OneCare (HMO SNP) (a Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plan) for low-income seniors and people with disabilities who qualify for both Medicare and Medi-Cal - PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) for older adults, providing comprehensive health services through the CalOptima PACE center - OneCare Connect Cal MediConnect Plan (Medicare-Medicaid Plan) for people who qualify for both Medicare and Medi-Cal, combining Medicare and Medi-Cal benefits, adding supplemental benefits for vision, transportation and dental services, and providing comprehensive care coordination “Better. Last week, CalOptima Health’s Executive Director of Behavioral Health Integration Carmen Nicole Katsarov LPCC CCM and Diane Ramos, MSHA,MSL,CLHT Manager of Behavioral Health Integration attended the 2024 School-Based Mental Health Summit for Orange County The summit provided school-based mental health professionals with effective counseling interventions and evidence-based mental health strategies to support their work with students. Mental health professionals had the opportunity to attend different sessions and hear from experts on navigating different initiatives and funding through the state. CalOptima Health was a proud co-sponsor of the event through Orange County’s Student Behavioral Health Initiative Program (SBHIP). CalOptima Health also staffed an informational table to share mental health resources with attendees. Yesterday, Mia Arias, Director of Medi-Cal/CalAIM, presented at the 2024 Open Minds Institute for Operational Excellence Conference on the Community Health Worker (CHW) Benefit. Mia presented alongside Mario Ortega, Chief Executive Officer of Abrazar Inc. and Iliana Soto, Health Equity Advisor, Office of Health Equity Advisory Committee, California Department of Public Health. In preparation for CalOptima Health’s Street Medicine program expansion to the City of Anaheim in September, CalOptima Health is leading a Street Medicine Steering Committee with City of Anaheim and other partners to discuss program operations and services. The Steering Committee is a partnership-driven, collaborative effort to support the most effective and sustainable outcomes for our members experiencing homelessness on the street. The Street Medicine program will provide medical and social services to people experiencing homelessness in Anaheim starting September 3.
