Caltrain and the Joint Powers Board celebrated the inaugural ride of their electrified rail system! This route between San Francisco and San Jose means fewer emissions, reduced noise, and smoother rides for passengers.

Can you believe it’s already been a week since we started operating the new electric trains! We celebrated this historic milestone with local, county, state and federal officials, project partners, and our amazing riders! We are incredibly grateful to all those who joined us on this momentous occasion and for everyone who made this journey possible. What was once a dream is now a reality, thanks to your vision and leadership! Also a huge thank you to all of our project funders and partners. Your investments and support have been instrumental in bringing this project to life! And to our dedicated business, labor, environmental, community, education, and transit groups—thank you for your tireless advocacy and collaboration! Last but not least, a heartfelt thank to all of our riders and our crew members who joined us for the inaugural journey of the electric trains. Your enthusiasm and support have made this milestone even more special! Celebrating the 1st Caltrain EMU in revenue service today🚄⚡️ Our team had the incredible opportunity to ride the first Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) on the newly electrified Caltrain corridor, marking a significant step forward in this transformative project. This achievement is a testament to the dedication, collaboration, and trust we’ve built among all stakeholders and team members together. Jacobs is proud to serve as the Construction Management(CM) role on this project, working alongside Caltrain leadership, esteemed consultants, public jurisdictions, local utility providers, and our valued partners, including Balfour Beatty US. Caltrain has been a game-changer for Stadler! This project was not just about performance, local impact, or beauty; it was a challenge from both technical and size perspectives, making it all the more rewarding. Building it during the pandemic added another layer of complexity. When Stadler signed on with Caltrain, we were just a handful of people in the United States. This initiative led to our investment in a facility in Utah and the hiring of nearly 500 employees. Today marks the beginning of a new era and the bittersweet end of a remarkable journey in building Caltrain. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of many individuals and organizations. A special thanks to Caltrain and its partners on the state and federal levels for their invaluable contributions. Gratitude to the Federal Railroad Administration for their collaboration in ensuring the safe service of these cars. We have delivered on our commitment to the public. Today we started passenger service on Caltrain's historic and transformational electrification line. 🚉✨ Thrilled to be part of a historic moment this morning as Caltrain launched its first electrified train car!
