We are excited about the upcoming launch of "High Science," a new TV series capturing the stories of innovators and thought leaders from previous CannMed Summits! This show is inspired by two Arizona entrepreneurs exploring the world of cannabis businesses, and it's just the beginning of a planned channel dedicated to a supportive community. As interest in cannabis reaches new highs for both recreational and medicinal purposes, "High Science" follows the adventures of Rich and Rick Batenburg, a father-son venture capital team, as they seek out viable marijuana businesses to invest in. The show, set to air on Outlaw TV and Bravo Multinational’s TVee NOW, is expected to debut in late summer or early fall. Emmy Award-winning producer David McKillop, known for hit shows like "Duck Dynasty" and "Storage Wars," has partnered with Scottsdale entrepreneur Ed Leclere to bring this series to life. NEW CannMed Coffee Talk, we discuss Investigating Terpenes for Chronic Pain Management! Dr. John Streicher is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology in the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona. He has built a long-term research program focused on finding improved treatments for pain. This has encompassed multiple approaches over the years, including testing cannabinoid and non-cannabinoid constituents of Cannabis sativa, identifying new ways to target opioid receptor signaling, and identifying new receptor targets in the body for pain relief. At CannMed 24, Dr. Deb Kimless @debra kimless md presented a poster that shared data from an open label clinical trial investigated using a cannabinoid-enhanced topical cream for alieviating Restless Leg Syndrome. RLS is condition that affects up to 10% of the US population, including Deb. She found relief using a CBDA-based topical cream and is working with the product manufactuer to conduct clinical trials that demonstrate its effectiveness. In an insightful presentation at CannMed 24, our CEO, Akeem Gardner, LLB, discussed the "Effect of Cannflavins on Mitigating a Motor Neuron Disease." Highlighting the therapeutic promise of phytochemicals from cannabis, the research showcased how CBD and cannflavins can alleviate neuropathologies by hindering enzymes integral to neuroinflammation. Our studies, involving models like mutant Caenorhabditis elegans and Zebrafish, underscore the potential of these compounds in treating ALS and other neuro-motor ailments.
