CareFirst’s partnerships with local nonprofits and regional sports and entertainment leaders amplify the importance of food access and helps improve health outcomes in our communities. These programs meet people where they are and provide families with nutritional meals, produce and nutritional education. We’re proud to announce the recipient of our recent Huddle Up for Health $50,000 grant, ROBERTAS HOUSE INC. In partnership with the Baltimore Ravens, the Huddle Up for Health grant will support Roberta’s House behavioral health initiatives, including bolstering existing programs and expanding services for clientele. As a culturally inclusive behavioral health provider with a unique approach to grief counseling, Roberta’s House is closely aligned to the Huddle Up for Health program’s vision for supporting local organizations addressing public health issues to advance health equity for all. We recently had the pleasure of hosting the Baltimore Business Journal for their INNO Fire Awards at our Baltimore headquarters. This annual award program recognizes companies and organizations that are leading innovators across the state in three categories: Medtech, Ecosystem Builders and Automotive. As one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit healthcare organizations, we recognize that healthcare innovation is vital to improve health outcomes and advance equity for communities across the region and country. Through our work with Healthworx, we’re at the forefront of innovation in healthcare, partnering with organizations to drive new insights, foster an entrepreneurial culture and improve access to affordable and equitable care. Our region has fostered some of the best and brightest minds and new businesses, two of which we heard from at the event. Local entrepreneurs Dawn Myers, founder of Richualist, and Marvin Montague Jr., CEO and co-founder of Meat The Mushroom were fantastic examples of how our community is shepherding innovation. Special congratulations to Astek Diagnostics and Vehicles for Change, who were named “Blazer Winners” for putting in the work and making the most significant impact on the innovation ecosystem in 2023–2024.
