Earlier this week, we celebrated the completion of the fourth and final phase of our Meheula Vista senior affordable rental housing development in Mililani Mauka. Built over a nine-year period in four phases, Meheula Vista provides low-income seniors with an affordable permanent living option so residents can “age in place.” Serving seniors with incomes of 60 percent or less of the area median income, the complex houses four apartment buildings totaling 301 housing units and 170 on-site parking stalls. “Our organization had the foresight 25 years ago to establish Catholic Charities Housing Development Corporation to allow us to build affordable rentals for seniors, families, and the underserved,” said Catholic Charities Hawai‘i president and CEO Rob Van Tassell. “Mahalo to all stakeholders who helped develop this project and those who joined us on this special day.”

🏢 Exciting news! Catholic Charities Hawai'i is making significant strides in partnership with the City & County of Honolulu in converting a Moiliili highrise into affordable housing. Already, 21 families have found safe, stable residences with the support they need at Waikiki Vista. “This program is about new beginnings,” said Tina Andrade of Catholic Charities Hawai'i. “This facility provides a safe and stable residence for families with children, offering a place to stay while parents seek employment and children continue their education.” With 108 studio apartments, the building is set to be fully occupied by the end of summer, providing crucial support to our community. Governor Josh Green and Mayor Rick Blangiardi highlighted the importance of these efforts in addressing homelessness and fostering community wellness.
