Our beauty and wellness education brand, Milady, has earned a reputation as the industry standard for beauty and wellness schools, which allows us to closely collaborate with exam developers. Recently, Academic Development Manager, Lisha Barnes, and Industry Relations Manager, Jessica George, recently attended workshops with an exam provider to ensure the alignment of licensure exam questions with our textbooks' content. Additionally, the National Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology - NIC, responsible for standardizing testing requirements, now promotes Milady on its homepage, guiding users to the NIC bookstore for relevant Milady resources. While NIC and Milady have a rich history, this new promotion placement helps to further our brand’s visibility and enhances industry and school success rates by providing clear guidance on study materials for licensure exams. Recently, our California-based National Geographic Learning team came together for two days of learning and team building. The sessions encompassed valuable discussions on targeted sampling, prospecting, account research and discovery topics, empowering the team to enhance their skills and knowledge. Additionally, they dedicated time to practice discovery topic questions, equipping themselves for impactful discussions with district leaders. With a well-defined ‘Game Plan’ in place, the team is now poised to make a significant impact in the districts and achieve success! Each month, members of our Talent team, Kevin Eksterowicz and Lauren Gogolak, host Talent Live, a series that explores career development and internal mobility opportunities. This month's session focused on the invaluable role our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) play in professional development. Jeri Herman, Chief People Officer, explained the benefits of participating in ERGs, including gaining skills outside of one's role, while emphasizing the important ways ERGs serve as part of the overall development of talent and culture. Necko Fanning, Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), also took time to highlight how ERGs serve as a vital source of connection and community, especially in our virtual-first environment. Kimberly Russell, VP of Research, also joined this month’s session. She has worked at Cengage Group for over 23 years and is known as a “Champion of ERGs.” She encourages those on her team to get involved and has seen firsthand the evolution in development, confidence and passion. Erik Castillo, Education Sales Consultant, shared his own enriching experience as member and co-chair of our Mosaic ERG. “I was exposed to a variety of new opportunities after joining Mosaic. I learned how to be a better cross collaborator and gained certifications in DEI and change management.
