CRL urged the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to implement more robust protections for Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) digital user accounts in a new comment letter. “We commend the CFPB’s efforts to remind BNPL issuers that their products are, in fact, credit cards, subject to certain disclosures, billing statements and dispute resolution protections. July is Military Consumer Month. CRL is committed to supporting our service members and veterans. We strongly support the new Servicing Purchase (VASP) program from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, designed to help VA borrowers avoid unnecessary foreclosures. While VASP is a step in the right direction, the recent extension of the foreclosure pause will assist veteran borrowers who are facing financial hardships until the program is broadly available later this year.
