Sick of boring onboarding experiences? Yeah, us too. Let’s be real: most onboarding is painfully average. It’s time to change that. At our Onboarding Olympics, we uncovered the game-changing strategies that make user journeys fun. Our expert judges Leah Tharin, Partho Ghosh, and Alexander Vilinskyy analyzed over 30 onboarding flows. Their insights are *chefs kiss* 👩🏼🍳👩🏼🍳. Ready to shake things up? Get the full rundown in the comments.

not demure, not mindful: watching videos to "see" the product very demure, very mindful: our new product 👇 no-one really wants to watch screencasts about a new product; it's tedious it's like reading a manual before I get to a gadget. but I also don't want to sign-up for a product right away and get hit with the sales outreach, marketing sequence, retargeting ads etc. so... introducing "interactive demos" here you can, peacefully, explore the product, with gentle annotations, without signing-up. you're in control, and you can choose to go forwards/backwards, dig in, branch out etc. and it makes sense for Chameleon to add this because: ⬅️ user onboarding is shifting left (earlier in the journey) 💅 lets have styling consistency between these demos and your in-apps 📈 target in-apps to users based on their demos engagement 🧱 builds on our easy-to-use platform, tech know-how, chrome extension etc. we know this works; on our own site we've seen a 2x conversion increase 🔥 when using interactive demos we've already got a handful of customers into our alpha, and opening it up to more customers in Q4 but we're now inviting waitlist registrants sign-up here: https://lnkd.in/eNA9-vZM and if you want to learn more about the category, check out the 101 I wrote here: https://lnkd.in/eg4u-p8r

Treating users like numbers? That's just lazy. Alexander Vilinskyy, one of the design minds behind Grammarly and Decipad, knows what killer onboarding should be. At the onboarding Olympics, he gave the gold to Eden, submitted by Tom Husson. 🥇 Why? Because their approach could give 8 billion people 8 billion different onboardings. Onboarding isn’t just about quick wins—it’s about real creativity and unique user engagement.

nobody will remember: - your salary - how "busy" you were - how many hours you worked people will remember: - when you used dark ux patterns to invite all contacts - when you refused to let someone opt-out after they missed their auto-renew cancellation window by a day - when your CTA said "see demo" and you hit them with a form to schedule a call

Leah Tharin, a powerhouse PLG advisor, lays it bare: "These ungated experiences are the future." 👇🏼 Rows.com, submitted by Henrique Cruz brought home the gold at the Chameleon Onboarding Olympics 🥇. Why? Because they demolished the traditional onboarding gate, letting users dive directly into the product. No signup. No fluff. Instant value. Yes, tracking gets trickier, but who cares when engagement skyrockets? 🔥

We just hosted another great event in Denver! We have events coming up in NYC and SF in early Sept and beyond in Austin, London and other cities. We cater great food and drinks, in cool venues, with a curated group of experienced product operators. Register your interest at chameleon.io/events or tag someone who might enjoy joining!

So this happened last night 🫣 We ate a lot of yummy bread pudding at Coohills in Denver for our second product dinner there! One thing that I was proud of was helping folks see what a great, thriving, fun community of product people there are in Denver. A lot of folks moved there recently and it's hard to build community when there aren't many IRL events for *experienced operators* post COVID. Thanks to all the folks who came and represented: Alex, Alistair, Amanda, April, Ashok, Bethany, Christopher, Claire, Dan, Elyce, Emily, Hunter, Jenny, Jess, John, Jordan, Kade, Kunal, Liz, Niven, Norma, Quyen, Rachael, Rajesh, Staci, Todd, Zack! I hope you foster these connections and help build product community, because one thing I've consistently seen is that peer-converations are such a vital source of know-how and growth amongst product people 💚 The only other thing that flew off the shelves like the bread pudding was the Chameleon swag 🧦 Anyone in your network that should be on the list for SF / NYC / Austin (all coming soon)?? Register to get invited at chameleon.io/events
