"For the last 15 years, CHN has been providing free HIV testing at Union Square to raise awareness about HIV testing. Every year, more agencies get involved, and this week we had over 50 organizations providing HIV testing under the NYC-DOH Prevention Services. CHN was awarded the 2024 HIV/STI Heroes Award. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the NYC Pride Parade, embracing the theme “Reflect. Empower. With #AANHPIMonth drawing to a close, we conclude the final week by spotlighting the outstanding achievements of Dr. Marjorie Mau. Dr. Marjorie Mau is a pioneering figure in medicine and a proud Native Hawaiian. She is the first Native Hawaiian woman to become board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. In 2012, Dr. Mau conducted groundbreaking research on metabolic disorders among Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders. Her work addresses health disparities in Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, emphasizing the importance of equitable healthcare access. In 2016, she made history as the first Native Hawaiian woman to be recognized as a “Master” physician by the American College of Physicians, joining a distinguished group of faculty physicians at the University of Hawaiʻi to achieve this rank. #AAPIHeritageMonth #HealthEquity #AAPIExcellence

CHN was proud to participate in the Annual Research and Innovation Symposium hosted by the Institute for Family Health. The team was able to showcase three posters: "Chasing Compliance: Initiatives to Boost Stool-Based Colorectal Cancer Screening in Primary Care," a collaborative effort by Dr. Napolitano, Daniel Soto, Ziying Zhang, and Ashley Klimavicius. "Improving Blood Pressure Control Through Simple, Operational Interventions," authored by Dr. Rebecca Lee, Dr. Napolitano, Annie Cummings, Ernell Payne, Brianna Bouchez, DNP, FNP-C, and Maria Pizzirusso. "Take Care of Yourself (TCOY) Tremont! A Collaborative Community Adolescent Health and Wellness Program Targeting Childhood Obesity," developed by Dr. Rebecca Lee, Alvin Lin, Mercedes Rojas, Anna Rickards MS, RDN, CDN, IBCLC, Paul D. Regoord, Yessica Yangas, Idania Duran, Jovel Albert, Lexis Concepcion, Abbie Gellman, Yanir Cedeno, and Wanda Mendez. As #AANHPIMonth enters its fourth week, we celebrate the inspiring legacy of Dr. Tadataka Yamada. Dr. Tadataka Yamada was born in Tokyo to a Japanese American mother and was the grandson of one of the earliest Japanese-American physicians. He moved to the United States in 1960 to pursue higher education, graduating from Stanford University with a BA in history and New York University School of Medicine with an M.D. Dr. Yamada completed his internal medicine training at the Medical College of Virginia and later specialized in gastroenterology at the UCLA School of Medicine. As a physician and gastroenterologist, he spearheaded groundbreaking research, authoring over 150 manuscripts, and editing The Textbook of Gastroenterology for its first five editions. Dr. Yamada served as the President of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's Global Health Program, where he played a pivotal role in advancing research and innovation in global health. His leadership focused on combating diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis, contributing to significant advancements in global health outcomes. He also held leadership positions in organizations like the Association of American Physicians and the American Gastroenterological Association. #Inspiration #HealthcareHeroes #Leadership

This recognition reflects our commitment to achieving 70%+ blood pressure control and ensuring accurate measurements for our adult patients. 🩺💙 We're grateful to be acknowledged alongside other esteemed organizations by the American Heart Association and American Medical Association.
