In our Q3/4 Workplace Trends Report, we address the growing popularity of personalized lifestyle benefits that cater to individual needs and preferences. Here are four areas we explore in one of the trends covered in the eBook: Interest in personalized, lifestyle benefits is on the rise: 👉 ENHANCED MEDICAL BENEFITS that support people in all phases of life are becoming increasingly more valuable to employees and job seekers alike. For instance: employer-sponsored fertility benefits are among the most popular. According to Mercer, about 45% of large employers offered in vitro fertilization (IVF) coverage to their employees last year, up from 22% in 2019. 👉 WORK-LIFE BALANCE BENEFITS address today’s demands for more flexibility. Resource support that takes into consideration childcare and elder care as well as flexible work schedules are essential. An astounding 73% of employees have caregiving responsibilities. According to research by Harvard Business Professor Joseph Fuller, this results in U.S. businesses losing $35 billion annually from failing to attract, support, and retain these crucial workers. Fuller’s research also found that a third of men change jobs when they become caregivers. 👉 FINANCIAL HEALTH BENEFITS are increasingly popular. More people want to buy homes, but they’re struggling with high interest rates and rising prices, a new report from the National Association of Realtors found. Offering benefits that help employees with credit repair, savings strategies and programs, and real estate resources may help people get closer to making their financial dreams possible. 👉 MENTAL HEALTH BENEFITS provide tools and resources that help with work-life balance. As employees continue to experience overwhelm and burn out at work, benefits that help employees reduce stress (rather than just “manage” it) and improve their emotional wellness will be a top priority. It also makes sense from a hiring and recruiting perspective, since 60% of employees recently surveyed by Paychex said that mental health benefits will factor into selecting their next job. The eBook offers insights and strategies in personalized employee benefits – strategies that you can put to use right now to attract and retain your valued workforce. Structuring a total benefits package personalized to meet the lifestyle needs of the individual will pay off with lower turnover rates and an even better bottom line. Prioritizing employee well-being requires organizations to understand and address the biggest issues that employees face, both at work and in their lives outside work. In Chapter One of our Q3/4 Workplace Trends Report, we dive into three key areas to focus on, to improve employee well-being: 👉 Mental health support: 35% of working Americans say their work negatively impacts their mental health. 1 in 5 adults are affected by mental illness each year but less than half (47%) of those people receive treatment. And talking about mental health in the workplace with colleagues and bosses remains largely taboo. 👉 The menopause transition: 40% of employees report that symptoms of the menopause transition interfere with their work on a weekly basis. 15% of women either missed work or cut back on hours because of menopause symptoms. That loss of productivity costs an estimated $1.8 billion each year. 👉 Fertility challenges: Starting or growing a family is a big decision and doesn’t come easily to everyone who wants it. 70% of millennials would change jobs to gain access to fertility coverage. This figure is in stark contrast to the 40% of employers that offered fertility benefits in 2023. (FYI: One round of in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment can cost as much as $30,000, out of the reach of most people in the workforce). The eBook offers insights and strategies in each of these key areas – strategies that you can put to use right now to show your employees you prioritize their well-being. Employee well-being has a profound effect on organizational culture and the work environment. Solving for it protects organizations from losing valuable workers due to turnover, the loss in productivity that comes from higher absenteeism, and the inclusion challenges that are a result of employees feeling uncared for and isolated. 👉 Prioritizing employee well-being requires organizations to understand and address the biggest issues that employees face, both at work and in their lives outside work. Elizabeth Zabbo (SHRM-SCP) our exceptional HR Director, recently enjoyed her well-earned sabbatical, a program which has been a cornerstone of Circle’s commitment to employee well-being. During her sabbatical, Liz first embarked on an Adriatic Sea cruise to celebrate her mother’s birthday with her siblings, husband, and brother-in-law. From there she traveled to Brussels and Amsterdam with her husband, exploring hidden gems, trying new food and beer, and visiting iconic landmarks. At the end, she also spent days in Cape Cod with her girlfriends. In all, she was thrilled to “be able to do my favorite things and spend time with those I love.” At Circles, we understand that taking time away from the workplace is not just a benefit, but a crucial aspect of sustaining creativity, productivity, and overall job satisfaction. Our sabbatical program, which has stood the test of time, is a testament to our belief in investing in our employees’ personal and professional growth. #sabbatical #lifeatCircles
