Yesterday, we took some friends from Japan's Odakyu Electric Railway Co. and Marubeni Corporation, along with guests from Australia as part of an American Council of Young Political Leaders exchange program, onboard Skyline! Our duo tour groups got to witness first-hand, Honolulu's newest public transit project, as well as an inside view of the Rail Operations Center. We are grateful for the visit of our international and overseas visitors, and will continue to build these relationships and give the opportunity for them to learn and understand our public transportation network. #HOLOWithUs #RideTheSky #SkylineHNL

Our friends over at Honolulu Board of Water Supply had some summer engineering interns who were interested in checking out our #SkylineHNL system, so..... ...we took them for a ride on Skyline, and a visit to the Rail Operations Center (ROC), where they got to check out the Operations Control Center (OCC) and rail maintenance facility! Sure, they're engineering interns at the Board....but we let them know that DTS/Hitachi is always looking to hire new talent to help keep our transit system moving, and on track (bad pun) ;) #HOLOWithUs

Starting Monday, July 1, 2024, Bikeshare Hawaiʻi has turned over its oversight role of the Biki bikeshare system to us at DTS. There will be no changes to Biki operations with this transition from Bikeshare Hawaiʻi to the City, and riders will not notice any changes in system availability, operations, Biki accounts or customer support. We will oversee a concessions contract beginning July 1, 2024 and running until June 30, 2025. After nearly five years of research, community outreach, feedback and public events, the demand for human-powered active transportation in Honolulu grew Biki to a fleet of 1,288 bicycles, 136 self-service stations, and 2,500 docked bicycle stalls. In 2023, there were nearly 800,000 rides on Biki, with 62% taken by residents, and nearly 17,000 active members. Secure Bike Share Hawaiʻi (SBS), the organization which operates and maintains the Biki system’s bikes, docks, mobile apps and customer service will continue their role and work with DTS and the City to ensure seamless, uninterrupted Biki service for Honolulu residents and visitors. SBS collects revenues from Biki rides, and the system is self-sufficient and does not require subsidy from the City to operate. This change in oversight also better positions the system for future expansion opportunities to potentially service new communities. Currently, we permit the use of Biki stations on City properties, and the City owns a portion of the bicycles and docking stations. We remain committed to the expansion of sustainable micromobility options for all of Oʻahu, assuring our island's residents and visitors that Biki will remain a component of our multimodal transit options. We plan to deploy future federal funding towards the acquisition of replacement bicycles and docks to continue our support of Biki and provide affordable, efficient, and healthy ways for our residents and visitors to move around Honolulu. #GoBiki #HOLOWithUs

We took The American Institute of Architects (AIA) for a ride and tour of #SkylineHNL, yesterday, showing them the first segment that spans from East Kapolei to Hālawa. Their visit not only gave them a bird's eye view of West O'ahu, but also shown how Skyline can be a solution to climate change and equity within our communities. TheBus real-time GPS and HOLO card readers have been restored and are operating normally. A breach into the Oʻahu Transit Services’ (OTS) online network created a network disruption that impacted phone lines, websites, GPS information and HOLO card readers on TheBus. The HOLO card server was not affected by the breach, and no registered HOLO card information was compromised. OTS believes that an old database which was previously used to print bus passes may have been accessed. This database was used prior to the transition to HOLO cards, and may include names and addresses. No financial information or government numbers, including social security numbers, are believed to have been compromised. Riders are now able to tap their HOLO cards on TheBus to pay for fares. Cash fares are still accepted. GPS-based apps such as HEA, Transit App and Google Maps can now be used to track TheBus in real-time, to provide accurate on-time information for riders. We apologize for any inconvenience to our riders.

As crews continue to bring the power back online in Downtown Honolulu, we want to remind motorists and pedestrians to treat all out-of-service signalized intersections as all-way stops. Scattered intersections across downtown are out of service due to a power outage. Uniformed Honolulu Police Department (HPD) officers will be at major intersections to help direct traffic. Drivers should obey all the rules of the roadway and drive with patience and aloha. #HOLOWithUs
