Pardon our progress! On August 19, the City of Bethany broke ground on the installation of a sanitary sewer force main on N Peniel Ave, stretching from NW 25th ST to NW 32nd St. The replacement of this sewer line would not be possible without the help of funds made available by ARPA. The street will be replaced once the sewer line has been installed and tested. Joining us for the ground breaking was Nikki Lloyd, Bethany City Mayor; Kathy Larsen, Bethany City Councilmember; Brian Magirowsky, Bethany City Councilmember; Chris Powell, Bethany City Councilmember; Ken Smart, Bethany City Councilmember; Elizabeth Gray, Bethany City Manager; Amanda McCellon, Director of Bethany Planning & Community Development; and Phil Stowell, Director of Bethany Public Works.

Last week, the City of Bethany held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally open the new Ripper Park Pickleball Courts. This project would not have been possible without the help of the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust, and their incentive grant program. TSET works with communities across the state of Oklahoma, to promote healthy lifestyles and to help people further themselves from the harm of tobacco products. This pickleball court is one of many great changes coming to Bethany’s parks in 2024. Joining us for the ribbon cutting was Nikki Lloyd, Bethany City Mayor; Kathy Larsen, Bethany City Councilmember; Brian Magirowsky, Bethany City Councilmember; Chris Powell, Bethany City Councilmember; Ken Smart, Bethany City Councilmember; Elizabeth Gray, Bethany City Manager; Amanda McCellon, Director of Bethany Planning & Community Development; Phil Stowell, Director of Bethany Public Works; Pedro Deloera, Bethany Public Works Parks Supervisor; Tre' Williams, Chief Operating Officer of the Oklahoma County Healthy Living Program; and Joshua Trope, Oklahoma County Healthy Living Program Supervisor.

City of Bethany Mayor Nikki Lloyd has been selected for the Oklahoma Purple Heart's 'Oklahoma Patriotic Mayor Award.' Mayor Lloyd is sharing this honor with Broken Arrow Mayor Debra Wimpee. This honor is bestowed on Mayor's who go above and beyond in their communities to honor veterans. Mayor Lloyd was instrumental in obtaining the City of Bethany's Purple Heart City distinction this year. "It is such an honor to share the Oklahoma Purple Heart’s “Oklahoma Patriotic Mayor Award,” with Broken Arrow Mayor Debra Wimpee" said Mayor Lloyd. "She is an incredible leader and I’m thankful to call her a friend." "Patriotism was instilled in me at a very young age. I watched my father, uncles, and many other family members serve our great country with pride. Now, being married to a combat veteran and serving in a metro community as mayor. I’m fortunate to be able to see it from a different perspective" said Mayor Lloyd.
