Please join us in congratulating Marvin Lewis as the Public Works Employee of the Month for the month of September! Marvin's hard work and excellent job performance as Crew Leader for the Grounds & Greenspace Division has earned him this award. Marvin has embraced all the educational opportunities this past year and has put all of his new knowledge to good use. He has improved his safe operation and proficiency with using chainsaws to not only cut up fallen trees while on-call, but also to correctly prune trees on our city property and rights-of-way. He has learned to identify and maintain many new plants, especially the ones in our green infrastructure practices. Marvin routinely suggests new ways to conduct our work and his innovations are contributing to our success in making the city more attractive. He always displays a great attitude, works well with his teammates and others in the department, and is always friendly and professional when talking to the citizens of Chamblee. #employeeappreciation

Please join us in welcoming Assistant Police Chief Andrianne Byrd to the City of Chamblee! Chief Byrd is the first female Assistant Police Chief for the Chamblee Police Department. She joins us after 28 1/2 years at the Miami-Dade Police Department. As Assistant Police Chief, she will oversee the internal day-to-day operations and structure of staff within CPD. A native of Miami, Florida, Chief Byrd obtained a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Florida A&M University and completed the Command Officers Development Course from the University of Louisville. She was instrumental in implementing weekly “Walks and Talks” within the South District of Miami creating a safe space for community members and business owners to share their concerns with law enforcement. She also developed a comprehensive recruitment plan for the Miami-Dade Police Department that addressed the need to select candidates that mirrored the makeup of their diverse community. Chief Byrd has been the recipient of the Exceptional Service Award, Employee Excellence Award, Officer of the Month, PBA Officer of the Year Nominee, the Progressive Officer Club’s Women of the Year, along with other accolades. “After 28 and a half years at the Miami-Dade Police Department and two years of retirement, it’s good to come back and serve the community,” said Assistant Police Chief Andrianne Byrd. “As Assistant Police Chief, I am focused on what the needs are of Chamblee and how this community wants to see their community serviced. It’s also important that younger women see that they can succeed in this male dominated field. It’s not about your sex, but it’s about your commitment to what you do. As long as you are committed and knowledgeable in your field, the opportunities are there.” #HerStoryInTheMaking #lawenforcement

Our bike patrol officers are ready to enhance community engagement, improve response times, and increase patrol visibility in areas not easily accessible by traditional patrol vehicles. This initiative is all about connecting with YOU and keeping our community safe and secure!  #communitypolicing

The Chamblee Police Department (CPD) is proud to announce that it has become a state certified agency through the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP). This designation recognizes the department as one of the top tier law enforcement agencies in Georgia. “Earning this certification is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every member of our department,” said Police Chief Michael Dieppa. “This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of service to our community and maintaining the trust and confidence of our residents.” CPD successfully underwent a rigorous review by experienced law enforcement professionals of their current policies, practices, and application of State law enforcement standards. They were reviewed by two committees for final recommendation for approval. GACP states that state certification is a continuous process and serves as a cornerstone for an agency to demonstrate their commitment to best practices and standards for building community partnerships and trust. CPD has been designated as a state certified agency through GACP to April 30, 2027.
