Meet Shannon Graham, an Aquatics Leader I in our Parks & Recreation Department. She has worked for the City of Tampa for over two years. Her management team praises her motivational skills and positivity, saying the following: “Her positive attitude shines through in everything she does, whether she's teaching swim lessons or leading Aqua Fitness classes. Her swim lessons are particularly outstanding, as she brings both expertise and enthusiasm to the pool, making learning enjoyable and effective for her students. Her Aqua Fitness students absolutely adore her, often praising her for her motivating energy and the personalized attention she provides during each session. Shannon's dedication and positivity have made her a cherished part of the Bobby Hicks Pool community.”   What's one of the craziest days you’ve had on job? Prepping the pool for the hurricane. I would say this was one of the most impactful days to me on this job. It was the day I realized I am part of something much bigger than me. That day we prepared the pool for the hurricane and then got to go fill sandbags for the community. I felt so proud to be able to serve my community in such a way. Community means everything to me, and this job has given me my community and so much more. What’s your favorite restaurant in Tampa? Interbay Meat Market, because their food is very good but also because they have the friendliest, most welcoming staff. It’s the friendliest bodega you will experience. What reality show would you want to be on? The Amazing Race, so I could see the world. What do you like to do in your free time? Go to the beach with my family. We're bringing the brick back!😎 The first two blocks of rebricking Ybor City's 7th Avenue is complete! These rebricked streets not only enhance the character of this National Historic Landmark District, but they also provide natural traffic calming & promote walkability. Funded by the City of Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency, roughly 80,000 bricks were used for these two blocks. These historic, repurposed bricks have been collected, stored, & maintained in accordance with City Code. Due to their limited supply, they are prioritized for historically significant projects, like this one!

Meet Billy Townsend, a Construction Inspector I in the Development & Growth Management Division. He has worked for the City of Tampa for almost four years and he enjoys working with contractors from all over the city. What’s something unique about your job that others wouldn’t know?  I was trained in the US Navy SEABEES as a Construction Inspector (1990). What’s your favorite restaurant in Tampa? Seminole Heights General Store. They have really good food and are very friendly. What are you reading right now? I’m in the process of reading the Holy Bible from cover to cover. What’s your favorite movie? Snow White and the Huntsman. I enjoy movies based on the middle ages.   What is your favorite meal to cook? Smoked venison. I love the taste! Of course, a beer or two helps along with the process! #EmployeeAppreciation #TampaJobs #TampaBay
