Our scientific co-founders at Nationwide Children's Hospital continue to illustrate their scientific leadership in defining bacterial biofilm mechanisms and strategies to eradicate serious infections. An excellent paper by Dr. Lauren Bakaletz, Dr. Steve Goodman and their teams published in eBioMedicine highlights efforts to target and destroy the biofilm by harnessing powerful anti-biofilm proteins within the body’s innate immune system. Respiratory infections are a serious challenge in people with #cysticfibrosis, as recurring infections and persistent inflammation can cause severe complications and destroy lung tissue. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation explains why this population is particularly vulnerable to infection and the research underway to address this challenge, including our own anti-biofilm platform.

It’s encouraging to see #Congress dedicating attention to the challenge of #antimicrobialresistance. A bipartisan roundtable last week addressed a variety of measures that can help address this urgent public health threat, including strategies to support novel #innovation like the work we’re doing at Clarametyx. This critical statistic illustrates why we need to pursue novel approaches to help reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with #CF. We support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s leadership in advocating for everyone affected by this chronic condition. And we're doing our part to introduce #innovation that could help reduce the severity of respiratory infections and improve quality of living for more people with CF. #cysticfibrosis
