  • In celebration of Cancer Survivor Day, the North Star Health Alliance and the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center hosted a special luncheon on June 22 at the Gran View in Ogdensburg. With almost 280 guests, the event was dedicated to honoring the strength and resilience of cancer survivors in the North Country. The atmosphere was filled with hope and camaraderie as survivors, their families, and supporters came together to celebrate life and the journey of overcoming cancer. A highlight of the day was the inspirational stories our three guest speakers, Jennie Flanagan, a bilateral breast cancer survivor, Renee Smith, a lung cancer survivor, and Bridgette Akins, an ovarian cancer survivor, shared, each of whom embodied the true spirit of perseverance and courage. Their heartfelt narratives resonated deeply with everyone in attendance, underscoring the incredible power of resilience and the unwavering strength that defines every survivor. This celebration was a tribute to their struggles and a joyful acknowledgment of their triumphant spirit and the brighter days ahead.
