Acting as a liaison and the first in-person point of contact, the Executive Assistant interacts with the executive, senior, department leadership, medical staff, the Board of Directors, and external constituencies. A thorough understanding of the corporate structure and administrative operations is required. The role demands flexibility, a proactive approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven, highly professional environment. The Executive Assistant reports directly to the Senior Executive Assistant. Qualifications: Education: Required: A.A.S. degree in secretarial services, business, communications, or healthcare administration. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, communications, or a related field. Training and Experience: 3-5 years of related experience preferred. Ability to take initiative, work independently, manage multiple tasks efficiently, and perform in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals. Advanced computer skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs. *The base pay range is a good-faith estimate of the potential compensation for successful candidates. It may be subject to modification based on factors such as experience, qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contract terms. In celebration of Cancer Survivor Day, the North Star Health Alliance and the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center hosted a special luncheon on June 22 at the Gran View in Ogdensburg. With almost 280 guests, the event was dedicated to honoring the strength and resilience of cancer survivors in the North Country. The atmosphere was filled with hope and camaraderie as survivors, their families, and supporters came together to celebrate life and the journey of overcoming cancer. A highlight of the day was the inspirational stories our three guest speakers, Jennie Flanagan, a bilateral breast cancer survivor, Renee Smith, a lung cancer survivor, and Bridgette Akins, an ovarian cancer survivor, shared, each of whom embodied the true spirit of perseverance and courage. Their heartfelt narratives resonated deeply with everyone in attendance, underscoring the incredible power of resilience and the unwavering strength that defines every survivor. This celebration was a tribute to their struggles and a joyful acknowledgment of their triumphant spirit and the brighter days ahead.

Dr. Akins, also affiliated with Carthage Area Hospital, will soon expand his practice to offer nephrology services in Carthage, NY. Stay tuned for more details! Dr. Akins comes to us with an impressive background in nephrology. He obtained his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, completed his residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital Center, and completed a fellowship in Clinical Nephrology. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Nephrology through the American Board of Internal Medicine. DeafBlind Awareness Week is celebrated during the last week of June, in honor of the birthday of Helen Keller. Its purpose is to raise public awareness about individuals who have combined hearing and vision loss, and celebrate their unique abilities and contributions to society. Today, there are 2.4 million people who are DeafBlind in the United States.

It’s #LearningDisabilityWeek, and this year’s theme — “Do you see me?” — asks us all to challenge the barriers people with a learning disability face. In addition to struggles faced at school, work or in society, many people with learning disabilities face unique challenges in receiving healthcare. Join us as we advocate for equal access and treatment for people with learning disabilities. We all deserve to be seen, valued, and respected.
