Mathematics and Economics at Macalester College | UWC Davis Scholar | Cloud Court, Inc. | TD Securities

On June 9th, our campus streets were adorned with little kei trucks and a grand congregation of our alumni and donors. Established in 1874, Macalester College marks its 150th anniversary this year, making it a special year not just for the college but for me as well. My home is Nepal and for economies like ours business activities are significant. To understand business growth in its early stages, I founded Altruistic Footsteps, a non-profit focused on online education and collaborated with startups in the education sector in 2018. This summer, through the MACNEST program and my internship at Cloud Court, Inc., I am gaining invaluable insights into the operations and achievements of a late-stage startup. Next summer, as an Investment Banking Analyst intern at TD Securities, I will further deepen my understanding of critical business decision-making. My internship at Cloud Court, Inc. is supported by our MACNEST program. MACNEST is a 10-week initiative that provides MAC students the opportunity to work closely with founders in demanding startup environments within the Twin Cities. The E&I department funds these internships, along with offering career development and cohort workshops. Our MACNEST cohort is specially supportive; we share reflections, tackle challenges, and encourage each other as we learn from our experiences. Cloud Court, Inc. is a LegalTech software company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, founded by a team of litigators and in-house counsel in 2016. Cloud Court, Inc. has been helping clients extract ROI from historical knowledge to empower litigation teams to make more informed decisions. As an Azure Artificial Intelligence Engineer, I develop prompts and custom GPT models. True to a startup, I wear multiple hats in my role. The scope of my work spans across other areas of our business including marketing and research.  At the heart of our innovation is Gibson, our premier AI-driven testimony intelligence solution. Gibson transforms written testimony from multiple sources into actionable reports, enabling litigators to anticipate adverse strategies, identify their own strengths and weaknesses and much more. Ask Gibson to review a hundred past transcripts or just one current hearing. Task Gibson to help a taking attorney devise an effective questioning strategy or assist a defending attorney in better preparing a witness.  My internship here has been an incredible journey. My supervisor, Milena, who also serves as the CTO, supports me daily and facilitates my learning. Beyond that, we have grand plans to make dumplings together. Misti and Michael infuse the team with their ideas and energy, while Uncle Joe takes care of us like family. At Cloud Court, Inc., we are concurrently supporting and learning from each other creating a forward-thinking and supportive environment while building cool solutions to everyday problems.

Entre-Kunoor with a passion for improving everything around me, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and law school educator on innovation in legal

Dallas brought a crowd at the regional LegalOps.com meeting yesterday. As always, the networking was fabulous, with engaging speakers. Thank you Connie Brenton and Jeffrey Franke for another successful event. We started the day with sharing personal and professional stories to get to know each other better. One of my favorite parts. The first discussion on Testimony Intelligence with Cloud Court, Inc. and Elevate got the room thinking about how litigation ops is a thing and very relevant to use cases related to sifting through deposition and trial testimony, including to obtain insights traditionally impossible. Thanks for joining me Nicole Nehama Auerbach, Michael Okerlund, Bill Childs and Andy Crowder. Litigation is the next frontier for optimization. We were then reenergized by the gratitude mindful moments with 🧭 Ashlee Best. Always a crowd favorite. The next discussion with Jennifer McIver of sponsor Wolters Kluwer highlighted the importance of using AI+Experts in their ELM including for invoice review. I couldn't agree more. The last discussion with Carlos Alvarenga on the Rules of Persuasion blew everyone's minds. Who knew there was a Periodic Table of Persuasion where with different mixes of character, argument and emotion you could improve your powers of persuasion? I am definitely getting his book 😉 A great time all around. Thank you to sponsors Reed Smith LLP Wolters Kluwer, ServiceNow, and Priori. #LegalOperations #LegalTechnology #AI+Experts #LawCompany

We’re proud to announce that Cloud Court, Inc. is proven SOC 2 Type II compliant! And yes, socks have nothing to do with it. But as long as we have your attention: A SOC 2 report communicates a company’s commitment to data security and protection of customer information. There are two types of SOC 2 reports: Type I describes an organization’s systems and whether the system design complies with the relevant trust principles; Type II details the operational efficiency of these systems over time. SOC 2 compliance is an integral step in proving to customers, stakeholders, and interested parties that our organization values their trust and effectively uses security controls. Because of the critical and often-sensitive nature of customer content that we process and the painstaking processes, policies, and company values that we follow to maintain confidentiality and trust, it made sense to build our security model according to a widely-recognized security standard and follow the broad path to achieve better compliance. Interested parties can request access to Cloud Court’s SOC 2 Type II report via email to [email protected]. Visit our blog for more details. Thanks to Vanta and Advantage Partners for empowering and advising us on our journey. #testimonyintelligence #legaltech #litigation https://t.ly/mHora

We're thrilled to share that EDRM has formed a project to develop and establish a new reference model focused on testimony. The reference model is called the Testimony Evidence Reference Model or TERM. Why “TERM?” Legal proceedings hinge on two types of evidence: documentary and testimonial. While eDiscovery tools have revolutionized documentary evidence management, testimonial evidence still lacks a structured framework. That's where TERM comes in. The goal is to create a model akin to EDRM but tailored for managing deposition and trial data. Participants in the project will help to establish and articulate best practices, enhance efficiency, and maintain confidentiality in handling testimonial evidence. Please visit the EDRM project site: https://lnkd.in/g2D9qVXB To contribute to or participate in the project, send an email with your contact information and the name of the project to [email protected].

Out today on #EDRM's Newswire- "The Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), a global leader in setting standards for eDiscovery best practices, is excited to introduce two innovative project teams aimed at advancing the field of eDiscovery. EDRM is inviting passionate individuals interested in enhancing eDiscovery processes and legal workflows to join these teams. The two new projects are: 1. Testimony Evidence Reference Model (TERM): This team is dedicated to addressing the differences between managing documentary and testimonial evidence in legal cases and will work to create a model that bridges this gap. Michael Okerlund, CEO of Cloud Court, Inc., an EDRM Trusted Partner, and Sheila Grela, paralegal at Buchalter, are leading the initiative. 2. Gigabyte Metrics (ESI File Size Project): A common question for eDiscovery professionals is “How many documents/files per gigabyte?” The answer can vary widely depending on the type of file at issue. Emails and text files are typically small, which means more files per GB. PowerPoint and video files can be quite large, lowering the files per GB count. Wouldn’t it be nice to have industry averages across large files sets to acquire this information? John Tredennick, CEO of Merlin Search Technologies, an EDRM Trusted Partner, is leading this project to find answers to these questions based on statistics from large document populations. The goal is to solicit anonymized aggregate information from a wide variety of litigation support, software hosting companies and law firms that can be amalgamated to provide averages for different types of files and across typical eDiscovery populations. We are really excited about EDRM's two newest projects, please reach out to [email protected] if you are interested in joining or learning more.
