When Mary Johnson was widowed, Stephanie Wechsler ARPN offered extra support, helping her find an assisted living facility and making sure she was taken care of emotionally as well as physically. Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom—and a reminder that freedom is hard-fought and worthy of defending. Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in January 1863, but enslaved African Americans in Galveston, TX didn’t learn they had been liberated until June 19, 1865. While Juneteenth first became a federal holiday in 2021, it’s been celebrated with jubilation since that first year of freedom. #Juneteenth #BlackHistory #Freedom
