Cortex Innovation District

"Field & Frames" is a temporary public art installation in Cortex, created by students from the College of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis WashU Sam Fox School. The works made of 3D-printed ceramics & wooden frames, are inspired by the District's creative & innovative spirit. Students participated in meetings with Cortex, as well as site visits and selection, drawing ideas from the natural and historical setting of the District -- as they developed forms, colors, and textures. They also practiced an important skill for any design professional: incorporating feedback from their client -- our team members -- into their final production. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g2XhpW_U

Congratulations to Adjo Honsou, winner of Season 3 of The Great American Recipe on PBS! For the show's finale, Adjo made her signature dish: Oxtail in Palm Nut Stew. The judges were wowed, with Judge Tiffany Derry calling it “perfect.” Adjo is the founder of FUFU n’ Sauce and is a graduate of Cortex's Square One. We are thrilled by her incredibly well-deserved success! Cortex kicks off this week by celebrating our 2024 WashU Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement Fellows Daniel Niu and Harlem Taylor and the incredible adventure they have been on this summer, in our District! 🎉 Daniel has supported our Equitable Economic Impact (EEI) and Operations teams by capturing and managing data, as well as providing insights. Harlem has worked with our Strategic Initiatives and District Experience teams, building plans for organizational growth and to collect valuable insight from District members. It has been a joy getting to know these two scholars, as they have supported advancing Cortex’s mission. Please join our team in wishing them the best as they continue on their Washington University in St. Louis adventures and beyond!
