While protecting, promoting, and enhancing the health, safety, and quality of life for companion animals and people within Monterey County, Animal Services performs duties that include field services for the impoundment of animals roaming at large; the treatment, control, and prevention of rabies in animals; the permitting of kennels, pet shops, rooster keeping in Monterey County; as well as responding to animal nuisance and code issues such as aggressive animals, dog barking, animal bites and enforcement of local animal related ordinances. The Supervising Public Health Nurse (SPHN) coordinates and supervises the operation of health-related services and programs involving comprehensive case management, education, prevention, and collaboration with and coordination of community resources. As part of the CalAIM initiative, the Bureau's ECM program is expanding to serve a larger proportion of individuals in Monterey County eligible for services. The SPHN will lead a multidisciplinary team of Community Service Aide IIs, Behavioral Health Aides, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and Public Health Nurse IIs. In this position, the incumbent will hire and train new team members, assign and review the workload of the team, and coordinate with partners. This will include the evaluation of program effectiveness, and provide technical expertise and recommend and implement policies and procedures to ensure ECM’s daily operations comply with both long and short-term program goals and objectives and agency policies and Procedures.
