There are many ways to remember the first responders who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Every year, first responders across the country participate in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Participants climb or walk the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center to honor the 343 FDNY killed in the attacks. During the Stair Climb, they wear full firefighter or SWAT gear, duty uniforms, or weights equally the weight of a fully equipped firefighter. Thank you Gold's Gym of Culpeper for reserving equipment for this year’s Stair Climb. #WeRemember #NeverForgotten #ThinRedLine #Culpeper

This morning, Chief Chris Settle and the Culpeper Police Department attended Culpeper's annual 9-11 memorial at the Culpeper Baptist Church. We remembered and honored all who lost their lives during the attacks, and everyone we've lost in the years since as a result of the attacks. We especially remembered Culpeper residents Ken and Jennifer Lewis, who were American Airlines flight attendants on Flight 77. We won't forget. #WeRemember #Culpeper #NeverForget

Last month, MPO Yeiser participated in the America's 911 Foundation Inc. annual motorcycle ride honoring the September 11th attacks. Over the course of several days, 85 law enforcement motor units escorted 450 civilians to Shanksville (PA) then Arlington (VA) before ending the ride in New York City (NY). At each stop, the group visited the memorials to honor and pay their respects to the first responders who sacrificed so much during those attacks. They are not forgotten. #WeRemember #ThinBlueLine #ThinRedLine #ThinGoldLine #ThinWhiteLine #FirstResponder

When kids ask to check out our really cool patrol cars, of course we’re going to say yes. We love sharing our profession, especially when it might encourage a future police officer! We consider their smiles to be a bonus. #Culpeper #CommunityConnections #FuturePoliceOfficer #LawEnforcement #Virginia

Earlier this year, MPO Detective T. Sisk received a scholarship from the Office for Victims of Crimes to attend the Serving Victims of Crime Conference in Appleton, WI. This annual conference is sponsored by the National Criminal Justice Training Center. This year’s main speaker at the conference was Dr. Jonetta McSwain, who’s authored a book about her survival of physical and sexual abuse. The conference provides participants with knowledge, examples of positive victim assistance programs, and resources for multidisciplinary approaches to serving victims of crime. Culpeper PD is always open to new approaches and resources to better serve our community and citizens. #Culpeper #ServingCrimeVictims #WIVOCC2024 #VictimsRights #Advocacy

Earlier this summer at the national conference, Girls on the Run Piedmont nominated MPO J. Smith for the Remarkable Volunteer Award. Each year, this award is only presented to twelve individuals nationwide, making it a highly distinguished accolade. During the national conference, local councils nominee recipients who’ve gone above and beyond in their support roles. The award underscores the significant, inspirational difference volunteers make in the lives of the Girls on the Run community. MPO Smith joined the Girls on the Run Piedmont's board in 2019 and was the first male volunteer in a key role. He’s since become an invaluable asset to their organization. MPO Smith plays a crucial role in connecting Girls on the Run with local law enforcement, fostering partnerships that have enhanced the safety and security of their events especially during the annual 5K event. He’s also been instrumental in facilitating and managing a partnership between Girls on the Run Piedmont and Team Jordan, a local suicide prevention coalition. We’re proud of MPO Smith and his impact on our community. Thank you Girls on the Run International for recognizing MPO Smith as a Remarkable Volunteer!
