We aim to be a strong student pipeline for successful alumni into New York City’s arts and culture institutions
Über uns
The City University of New York (CUNY) has partnered with New York City’s Department of Cultural Affairs and The Rockefeller Foundation to launch the CUNY Cultural Corps, which will create opportunities for CUNY students to work in the City’s cultural sector. Modeled after the CUNY Service Corps, which provides hundreds of CUNY students with paid work experience in civic-oriented jobs in community-based organizations and government agencies, the Cultural Corps aims to be a strong student pipeline for successful alumni into New York City’s arts and culture institutions. These institutions include non-profit cultural organizations involved in the visual, literary and performing arts as well as public-oriented science and humanities institutions including zoos, botanical gardens and historic and preservation societies.

Proud of our interns! Congratulations Christina Tran 🎉
Earlier this week, I completed my longest internship of eight months with the BAX | Brooklyn Arts Exchange! With the support of the CUNY Cultural Corps program, I joined a team of incredibly warm and hardworking people who provided me with many opportunities to explore my budding interest in a nonprofit organization's fundraising and development process. From engaging face-to-face with potential donors for our online auction (live until May 19th!) to preparing funding applications to City Council offices, this internship has allowed me to hone my relationship-building and writing skills. Thank you so much to my manager, Meghann Trago, and Kara Gilmour for your thoughtful guidance, advice, and support throughout my time at BAX! As I prepare to graduate in a few weeks, I’m excited to continue growing what I’ve learned here and cross paths again! Being a part of the arts and culture sector will always be special to me.

We would like to express our gratitude to all our Cultural Corps members: current interns, alumni, and alumni ambassadors who joined us last Friday, March 15th, at the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. Students and alumni had the opportunity to enjoy guided tours of the exhibitions and network with museum staff and fellow interns, discussing career paths and experiences at the museum.
Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust educators guided nearly 100 students and Chancellor Felix Matos Rodriguez through “Courage to Act: Rescue in Denmark,” the museum's current exhibition that tells the story of how ordinary Danish citizens defied enormous risks and united to save nearly 95% of Denmark’s Jewish population from the Nazis. https://ow.ly/203c50QXBiA
