Our best work is achieved in collaboration with involved clients. Design solutions evolve through careful consideration of our clients’ needs, constraints, and dreams. To this we add a commitment to architecture that is both beautiful and respectful of its surroundings. Working within the design studio tradition, we have created an open collegial work environment where education is highly valued; where the exchange of ideas, is encouraged; and where the most advanced technology supports the design process. Our success has allowed us to contribute a portion of our profits to worthy community service organizations, in the belief that strong communities and great architecture are mutually dependent.

Earlier this summer, DSA’s Lia Scheele, RA and Adam Richter attended the renovation completion celebration of Baystate Place in Springfield, and now we are excited to share the beautiful photography of the finished project! DSA worked with Beacon Communities LLC on extensive renovations to the building that includes 3 towers, which was originally built in the 1970s. Baystate Place provides 346 units of rental housing, many of which are designated as affordable. The unit improvements include all new windows, renovated kitchens and bathrooms, new flooring and paint, improved HVAC systems, and 18 new accessible unit conversions. Common area improvements include a new wellness center, renovated community room with new common kitchen, fitness center, two fully renovated laundry rooms, and a store for residents. Outside, Baystate's spacious courtyard has been beautifully redesigned and new accessibility entrances are now available from all parking areas. Congratulations to all our team members on this significant accomplishment that supports the City of Springfield community. #affordablehousing #renovation #energyimprovements #accessibility #wellness #landscapeimprovements

Summer softball series is back! We have had TONS of fun this summer playing a few games of softball with POAH Communities at the Teddy Ebersol's Red Sox Field. Colleagues, family, and friends joined our teams for some fun and exciting games. POAH remains undefeated, but DSA still has one more shot at bringing home a win at our final game this Thursday! This is a great part of the summer that we look forward to every year and are grateful for everyone's participation. We want to give a special shoutout to DSA's own Joseph Taglia for absolutely crushing his rookie debut at our last game!

Recently, DSA’s project team had the pleasure of accompanying Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell on her visit and tour of the construction site of NorthStar Learning Centers, Inc.'s newest childcare center in New Bedford. Formerly home to St. Hyacinth’s Church, the site is being transformed into a brand new Early Learning Center serving 135 children. Set to open by the end of the year, the center will include state-of-the-art classroom and administrative office space, a community center, gallery, and commercial kitchen. The project will support the densely populated South End neighborhood, and reactivate an empty lot that has been unused for a significant period of time. Dellbrook | JKS

DSA's own Laura Cella-Mowatt and Aleesa Asfoura had a blast at this year's annual Fenway Community Development Corporation Ball! Everyone gathered at 521 Overlook at Fenway park for a fun-filled night with some great networking, drinks, and yummy cuisines from all around the world. There were several guest speakers, including community and business leaders, followed by an exciting live auction, delicious dessert, and dancing! As a silver sponsor for the event, DSA is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of such a wonderful organization, and to continue our working relationship together to bring affordable housing to the Fenway community.

Congratulations Make-It Springfield: A Downtown Community Makerspace on your anniversary! Cheers to many more years of providing such an inspirational, vibrant and accessible resource to the Springfield community. https://lnkd.in/e8Mf3Mnm
🎉✨❤️💐Congratulations, Make-It Springfield: A Downtown Community Makerspace on your 8-year anniversary! ✨🎉❤️💐 Last night, we celebrated Make-It Springfield’s incredible journey of creativity, community, and inspiration that began with a simple pop-up idea and blossomed into a vibrant cornerstone of Springfield's artistic landscape. It’s so hard to grasp that Co-founders Michael Di-Pasquale and Laura Masulis envisioned just a one-month venture to inject downtown with activity, but their vision grew into something truly transformative. Make It Springfield has not only provided a space for creative expression but has nurtured and empowered thousands of creative spirits through access to arts education and a platform for diverse creative industries. It's more than a space; it's a multicultural home that “invites creativity, invention, and artistic experimentation for all”. So much praise, honor and gratitude to the entire Make-It staff, partners and volunteers for sustaining such an essential organization. Special shout out to my old boss, the amazing Executive Director of Make It Springfield Roberta Wilmore and her incredible leadership that has led to the consistent growth and expansion of this phenomenal organization! Here's to many many many more years of fostering creativity, supporting artists, and enriching the community. Thank you, Make It Springfield, for eight years of making Springfield a more vibrant and inspiring place! 🎨🌟

Wonderful news! Congratulations to Worcester Common Ground and the other #affordablehousing projects that also received grants to support their energy efficiency retrofits and upgrades. https://lnkd.in/etBygdmg
BREAKING: The Healey-Driscoll administration has just announced awardees for the second round of grant funding, totaling $26M, through the MA Department of Energy Resources to support major energy efficiency retrofits of five affordable housing properties in the Commonwealth. As a national leader in moving away from fossil fuels and putting communities first, this administration is laser-focused on investing in existing housing with commitment to add an additional $40M for future projects. 625 homes will be able to benefit from lower energy bills and improved indoor air quality and comfort. The projects at Allston Brighton CDC, Boston Housing Authority, Madison Park Development Corporation, Visiting Nurses Communities, and Worcester Common Ground will join Massachusetts’ clean energy transition and realize significant energy savings and carbon reductions. Lt. Governor Driscoll stated, “We are a national leader moving away from fossil fuels and putting people first.” The state and city are moving the climate and housing agenda forward together in concert – by combining funding to reach collective goals, overcome challenges, and solidify financial health of properties.
