Über uns

Green inside and out, Denver Botanic Gardens is considered one of the top botanical gardens in the United States and a pioneer in water conservation. Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the Gardens’ living collections encompass specimens from the tropics to the tundra, showcasing a plant palette chosen to thrive in Colorado’s semi-arid climate. The Gardens' dynamic, 24-acre urban oasis in the heart of the city, offers unforgettable opportunities to flourish with unique garden experiences for the whole family – as well as world-class education and plant conservation research programs. Additional sites at Chatfield Farms, a 700-acre wildlife and native plant refuge in Jefferson County; and Mount Goliath, a high-altitude trail and interpretive site on the Mount Evans Scenic Byway, extend this experience throughout the Front Range.

Dammed and flooded in 1963 to create Lake Powell, the desert walls of Glen Canyon in Utah have recently emerged from the water after two decades of drought. The reappearance of this vast canyon system and the ensuing ecological resurgence serve as both a stark reminder of climate change and a testament to nature's resilience. Photographer Elliot Ross documented this landscape in flux in his exhibition, "Geography of Hope," on view at the Gardens through February 2. His field journals are featured in the exhibition, providing insight into his creative process and documentation of his journey. Ross uses quick-developing photographs on these excursions as visual notes, like a painter using a sketch, in order to consider lighting, viewpoints and details to include in his final compositions. Check out content about this exhibition on the Bloomberg Connects app! https://lnkd.in/emA5YHA Art 1. Elliot Ross, "Artifacts," fall 2022. 2-3. Installation view of field journals 4.
