I remember when Jacob once came to my high school to give a talk about Digital NEST. I couldn’t believe that such a place would exist in town. I went to go check it out one day when it was by Green Valley Rd. Never would I have thought that I’d get hired there years later as a graphic designer. I look back on my BizzNest days fondly with much nostalgia. I’m grateful for the opportunities I was able to take up and the gifted folk I met along the way. It is really inspiring and motivating to be in an environment populated by talent from your own community. Espero que siguen brindando más a los generaciones que vienen 💪.
Ten years ago, I presented the idea of the Digital NEST to those working at the coworking space NextSpace Coworking + Innovation in Santa Cruz. Six months earlier, I had a conversation with their co-founder, Jeremy Neuner, where I proposed the idea of creating a space similar to NextSpace but specifically for youth. This was one of the earliest discussions about creating a space for young people to access resources, skills, and a network that would help them thrive in their community. This year marks our 10th anniversary! There will be numerous events, posts, and opportunities to celebrate all that we have achieved. I want to express my gratitude to all early believers - those who believed in the NEST before there was anything tangible to share, believed in the potential of the youth, and believed in me and my team. #DN10

Voler team members are passionate about volunteering! Video Team member Antonio Castillo dedicates his time volunteering as a mentor for Digital NEST. His cohort of students visited the Voler office to meet our video team and learn about video production. Antonio shares, "It was an enriching experience describing what the job field Is like and also preparing my mentees for their road ahead. It was a gift to explain what employers were looking for or expect out of newly graduated students." Digital NEST creates sustainable and scalable technology learning centers for Latinx youth in order to foster economic equality. They achieve this by technical and soft skills, providing mentors and broadening networks in order to gain sustainable employment. We are proud to support!
