We went full-on bananas for #NationalBananaSplitDay this year donating 9,600 DOLE® Bananas for an entire weekend of events celebrated with Giant Eagle, Inc., and the city of Latrobe, PA, the birthplace of the banana split. From serving scoopfuls of DOLE® Banana splits at the Giant Eagle corporate office, to sharing out hundreds of DOLE® Bananas at the Latrobe Giant Eagle, the multiple Bobby Banana appearances throughout the city and on the news, the 5K Banana Run, and the Great American Banana Split Festival - the team had a blast! We even kicked off the inaugural Dole Great American Banana Challenge where we saw challengers attempt to eat as many bananas as possible in 125 seconds (honoring our own Banana-Versary), with the winner eating 11! Starting 8/29 at 10 am ET, Dole is recruiting and sponsoring health-minded runners in the 5k, half-marathon and full-marathon! Say hello to the most famous Banana at the National Mascot Hall of Fame!   An immersive exhibit at the Hall of Fame museum (in Whiting, Ind.) extols Dole's iconic mascot, Bobby Banana. Continuing the celebration of Dole’s 125th Banana-Versary, “Bobby Banana: Dole’s Healthy-Living Icon for a Hungry World” chronicles the more than 30 years of inception and growth of this exuberant, sneakers-wearing Cavendish banana responsible for inspiring and educating generations of kids and families toward nutritious food choices and active lifestyles. The exhibit runs through Sept. 30th, 2024.
