We are honored and excited to work with Atrius Foundation in supporting youth as change-makers through our partnership with the Fields Corner Crossroads Collaborative.

As a spend-down foundation, our approach: invest today for impact tomorrow. And today we’re proud to announce our largest investment to date: $23 million in grants, informed by community input, to advance youth-led community health solutions across Eastern MA. We're honored to support 8 organizations in centering #YouthChangeAgents for #HealthEquity: Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, DotHouse Health, La Colaborativa, Lawrence CommunityWorks, Inc., Lynn Community Health Center, Lowell Community Health Center, Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition, and The BASE. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dYtnZeVb In announcing these grants, we wish to honor the memory of Jack Connors, Jr., who served on our Founding Board. Jack insisted that we take big, bold steps to close the gap in life expectancy and was particularly dedicated to supporting youth to become the leaders of tomorrow.

CEO of NACHC | Mission-Driven Physician Leader, Educator, Scientist, and Innovator | CMO at CHCs, HHS, IBM, and CVS | Primary Care | Health Equity | Health Tech | Public Health | Board Member

2nd post of National Health Center Week (NHCW), an annual celebration that is happening from Sunday, August 4 to Saturday, August 10! This is an opportunity to celebrate the over 300K Community Health Center (CHC) staff/board leaders and key partners of our movement who make it possible to provide high quality, comprehensive, integrated, and affordable primary care to over 32.5 million patients or 1 in 10 across over 15K sites in rural, frontier, urban, suburban, tribal, and island communities across our nation. Please learn more about #NHCW24, read The White House proclamation, and join an event at: https://lnkd.in/eKXV5YJe; https://lnkd.in/eVZpgg7p. On Sunday, August 4, I had the privilege of seeing 3 CHCs in the great state of Massachusetts where we serve 1 in 7. With the amazing CEO of the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers Michael Curry, Esq. and the caring CEO of DotHouse Health (DotHouse) Michelle Nadow, I visited a CHC that originally started over 135 years ago and now has an indoor pool and full-court basketball court for the community it serves. Built as a settlement house or a community resource dedicated to serving Boston’s immigrant population and other underserved communities in 1889, DotHouse started with a focus on social services like a library, reading rooms, and meeting spaces and later added healthcare services in 1974. Today, with ambulatory Joint Commission and NCQA accreditations, DotHouse provides high quality, comprehensive, integrated primary care with medical, behavioral, oral, social, vision, and other specialty care within adult, family, pediatrics, and women's health departments. Affiliated with Boston Medical Center (BMC) and Mass General Brigham, their 300+ staff advance culturally competent and linguistically concordant care and also support the training of the next generation of our primary care workforce through numerous training and educational programs for clinician students and residents. Please learn more and support them at: https://lnkd.in/ewtBUiwg. National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) believes that CHCs like DotHouse Health are the best, most innovative, most resilient, and most diverse part of our health system. We stand united with CHCs for and with the people we have served and will serve as “the best is yet to come.” Please learn more and support the CHC movement at: https://www.nachc.org. #NHCW24 #HealthCenters #ValueCHCs #FundCHCs #WeAreNACHC

DotHouse wishes everyone a very Happy National Health Center Week 2024 (NHCW)!    In honor of NHCW, we had a special visit from Dr. Kyu Rhee, President & CEO of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), to start off the week! Dr. Rhee toured our facility and we had the opportunity to highlight our services and programs to him! We appreciate the opportunity Dr. Rhee!   As a reminder, NHCW is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades. This year’s National Health Center Week theme focuses on empowering communities by connecting them with health centers and elected officials from all levels of government.    We will be hosting several event for staff and patients throughout the week in honor of NHCW. Stay on the lookout!   #NHCW24 #CommunityHealthCenters #DotHouse

Please join the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB) Committe as we proudly celebrate and honor the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)! Today, July 26th, 2024, marks the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act passage, which prohibits discrimination based on disability status in everyday public and private settings. In 2015, the month of July was officially deemed “Disability Pride” month in honor to celebrate the act’s 25th anniversary. Disability Pride Month honors, celebrates, and sheds light around the achievements and resilience of the disability community. This month is meant to empower society to normalize disability and to advocate for inclusion and accessibility for all people. As a gentle reminder, according to the ADA, a disability is a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a person from performing a major life activity. 1 in 4 adults in the U.S. has a disability of some sort. Disabilities can be congenital (since birth) or acquired (developed during the person’s lifetime); they can also be temporary or permanent. Disabilities can be visible or invisible, which emphasizes the importance of never assuming someone can or cannot perform a certain activity solely based off of their appearance. At DotHouse Health, we are making a conscious choice to be intentional about creating an environment where everyone can feel psychologically safe by embracing our diverse staff and building an inclusive culture where everyone’s voice is valued, feels a sense of belonging, and empowered to do their best work. This is why it is especially important to recognize this day and month, as well as ensure constant advocacy and action for enhancing accessibility. We want to make sure our staff and patients feel included, supported, and accommodated for every step of the way.
