Sulfites is another word for “sulfur dioxide.” It’s a naturally occurring byproduct of wine fermentation, so every wine contains some sulfites. In the US, winemakers can add up to 350 parts per million (ppm) of sulfur dioxide, which acts as a sterilizer and preservative. All our pure Artisan Wines are lab tested by an independent enologist to ensure they have less than 75ppm of sulfites, and our wines average 39. To give you a rough idea, dried fruit, jams, parmesan cheese, and mushrooms have more sulfites per serving.
