Our video from last summer is making the rounds again 🌳 And we get why — heatwave season is just around the corner. As far as solutions go, urban trees are pretty impressive: they can cool their surroundings by up to 12°C. If you go outside during a heatwave, you'll notice a big difference in temperature between streets lined with trees and bare concrete pavements exposed to the sun. That's because trees provide shade and bring moisture back into the air, cooling the surrounding areas. Three years in, they’re planting 600 trees a month 🌳🎉 In August 2021, the German insurance company Provinzial Konzern decided to make Ecosia the default search engine on all its employees’ work devices. Today, their employees contribute to around 600 new trees per month thanks to their searches. We are proud to be working with them and of the climate impact we’re having together 💚 “Ecosia makes sustainability an everyday part of working life for all our employees”, says Astrid Bayer, Head of Sustainability at Provinzial. The team especially loves the transparency and easy access to data — they can track and measure their impact in detail. Loving this forest transformation 😍 Look at all those mangroves planted by the Ecosia community! These trees are so special 🌳 They prevent the soil from washing into the sea, are home to many species, protect communities from extreme weather events, and sequester huge amounts of carbon. In this project in Madagascar, we planted 890,000 native trees with Eden Reforestation Projects. #mangroves #reforestation #rewilding
