Efficiency Maine is the independent administrator for energy efficiency programs in Maine. Efficiency Maine’s mission is to lower the cost and environmental impacts of energy in Maine by promoting cost-effective energy efficiency and alternative energy systems. Efficiency Maine does this primarily by delivering rebates on the purchase of high-efficiency lights and equipment to help customers save electricity, natural gas and heating fuels throughout the Maine economy. Efficiency Maine is governed by a stakeholder Board of Trustees with oversight from the Maine Public Utilities Commission.

We're excited to announce that the Efficiency Maine Green Bank will receive approximately $15 million to support energy loans as a sub-awardee of a grant from the U.S. EPA’s National Clean Investment Fund (NCIF), an initiative of the Inflation Reduction Act’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. With the promise of new capital from the U.S. EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, the Efficiency Maine Green Bank intends to expand its loan and lease offerings across a broader range of homeowners, small businesses, commercial properties, schools, and municipalities. The event was held at F.W. Webb Company in South Portland.

Request for Proposals for Lending Platform The Efficiency Maine Trust seeks a qualified contractor or team of contractors to provide and operate a lending platform to support the Trust’s expanding finance initiatives through the Efficiency Maine Green Bank (EMGB). This platform may include multiple integrations to meet the needs outlined below. The Trust has issued a concurrent Request for Proposals (RFP) for Lending Services (EM-014-2024) for additional administrative and logistical support.
