As the Medicare enrollment period approaches, beneficiaries are facing a "perfect storm" of challenges, says eHealth, Inc.’s CEO, Fran Soistman. Soistman is urging CMS to extend its deadline for this year's enrollment period. "In 2014, we had 15 million Americans in Medicare Advantage.Today, that number has more than doubled to 33 million. This adds immense pressure to the seven-week AEP, where all current enrollees must review changes to their existing plans and explore new coverage options for 2025," Soistman tells Newsweek.

We applaud the decision by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to temporarily retain CY2024 agent compensation rates for CY2025. While we were not of the opinion that the original 2025 compensation guidelines applied to eHealth, we’re gratified by CMS’s decision to keep the 2024 guidelines in place, which we strongly believe will serve the best interests of Medicare beneficiaries this Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). This year’s AEP is expected to be especially challenging and disruptive for seniors.
