As a local business, we believe in championing other local businesses through our procurement and subcontracting efforts. In 2023, nearly three quarters (73%) of all our vendors and suppliers were small businesses with 43% of those identified as SWaM and 30% as DBE contractors. We recently sponsored and participated in the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce ProcureCon Maritime Expo to highlight our commitment to support these vital companies.

With hurricane season in full swing, our crews practice emergency response training regularly including regular testing of our Midtown Tunnel Tide Gate. We’re proud to see that our tide gate also served as a design model for those in use at eight New York City tunnels. https://lnkd.in/etn-U-y3

We're proud to spotlight our 2024 ERC Good Citizen Scholarship recipients as they head off to college! Each of these 7 seniors from Norfolk Public Schools and Portsmouth Public Schools were awarded a $1,500 scholarship renewable for up to four years. We wish each of them a great year on campus at University of Virginia, Tidewater Community College, Virginia Commonwealth University, Howard University, Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Vermont.

This year, more than 10,000 children from 80+ schools across the region participated in our ERC Reading Program. By meeting their grade-level reading goal, kids earned a set of tickets to see the Minor League Baseball 2023 Champions play baseball at Harbor Park. Partnering with the Norfolk Tides has been a homerun to encourage the love of reading in our local youth. #ReadLikeRipTide

Things are looking pretty in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia! Last week our Green Team planted new flower beds at our Downtown Tunnel Support Building on Crawford Street. A little beautification can "grow" a long way!
