Ellen Freeman Immigration Law Group, PLLC has been 20 years in the making since Ellen’s graduation from University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1999 and the moment her Father asked her, “When are you going to start your own Firm?” Her Father, a successful entrepreneur, was always keen to have his daughter take control of her own destiny just as he had done with his career in business. He could see there was that same spark within Ellen to want to achieve something greater. Over the past nearly 20 years, while working at three of Pittsburgh’s highly regarded law firms, Ellen became proficient and respected in the field of immigration law. In 2018, she was elected to the Board of Governors of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She climbed the corporate ladder at large law firms, to achieve Partner level at one firm and break “the glass ceiling” to become Partner-In -Charge at her most recent destination. This past February 2019, a different kind of opportunity presented itself. Ellen knew it was the right time to begin a new journey; a journey she had undoubtedly been preparing for her entire career. On March 1st, 2019, the doors opened at Ellen Freeman Immigration Law Group, PLLC; a full service immigration law firm. On Aug. 19, USCIS will begin accepting requests for, using a new electronic form, Form I-131F, Application for Parole in Place for Certain Noncitizen Spouses and Stepchildren of U.S. Citizens. Form I-131F will not be available on uscis.gov until Aug. 19. USCIS is not accepting any other form for Keeping Families Together. Do not file a request for parole in place under this process before Aug. 19, 2024. Filing Guide for Form I-131F on the Keeping Families Together webpage has been published. This guide will help individuals as they prepare to file a request for parole in place through the online process. We have also updated the Key Questions and Answers about the process on the Keeping Families Together webpage. More information about Keeping Families Together will be made available in a Federal Register notice in the coming days. Form I-131F will only be available to file online. Each requestor, including minors, must file a separate Form I-131F, and each requestor must have their own USCIS online account, including minors. Information on creating a USCIS online account is available on the How to Create a USCIS Online Account webpage. USCIS announced that it selected 114,017 beneficiaries, resulting in 120,603 selected registrations in the initial selection for the FY2025 H-1B cap at the end of March 2024. Subsequently, on August 14, 2024, it selected 13,607 additional beneficiaries in the second selection for the FY2025 H-1B regular cap, resulting in 14,534 selected registrations. There still maybe be a 3rd lottery selections as many of the newly selected registrants are not filing H-1B petitions having left the US after a job loss or secured another immigration status. #H1Bcap #h1b #freemanimmigration #immigrationattorney #immigrationnews

We are thankful for the NIW expansion
On August 1, 2024, the USCIS conducted a second lottery selection of regular H-1B submissions. The pool included master's degree submissions as well. The announcement to the stakeholder from the USCIS regarding the selections came this morning. It appears that very few cases have been selected and ALL of ours are for graduate degree holders of US universities. Those selected in the second lottery, will have until the end of October to file their H-1B cap petitions. USCIS received approximately 440,000 registrations from unique beneficiaries this year and selected about 114,000 to meet the 85,000 cap in the first lottery at the end of March. #immigrationattorney #H1Bcap #H1B #immigrationnews #freemanimmigration #freemanlaw
