Wireless power has missed the mark, but is a launchpad imminent? With the news that Energous was rebranding as Energous Wireless Power Solutions to really drive home its messaging, Wireless Watch’s curiosity was piqued. Just how much has changed in the wireless power space since the hype died off pre-covid? Broadly, there are two ways to send power to a device through the air – radio frequency (RF), or infrared (IR) light. Physics makes such explanations challenging, but both are essentially using the energy of the emission to generate electricity in the end-device. Specialist silicon is required, but companies like Atmosic Technologies can provide implementations in off-the-shelf Bluetooth chips these days. #wireless #wirelesspower

We attended Sensors Converge 2024 in Santa Clara last month, and in our latest blog post we have shared our experience and some key themes we observed including: 1. Flexible Electronics: Advancements in printed, flexible, and stretchable sensor systems, opening new possibilities for medical applications and wearable tech. Great sessions on this topic by Mark Waugh, Murata & Robert Irwin, Molex. 2. Energy Efficiency and Scavenging: Novel approaches to powering sensors and Bluetooth LE radios wirelessly. Some interesting demos of this technology at the event including; Lightricity in collaboration with InPlay Inc, e-peas and Energous. 3.
