Overdoses in Oregon are on the rise – and on the North Coast, community leaders are struggling to keep up. Over the last couple of months, I’ve had the privilege of working on a story for The Astorian and EO Media Group looking at gaps in access to residential drug treatment. In the process, I’ve learned about the barriers people face in getting help, and the steps service providers, county officials and the Oregon Health Authority are taking to turn the page. It isn’t a fun topic – but it certainly is a timely one, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to write about this issue through a local lens. Check out my story to learn more. https://lnkd.in/g8XT_MVz

📰 Spotlight on Sustainability: Keeping Local Journalism Alive 📰 We want to share Kari Borgen's recent contribution to the The Seattle Times, "A View from Oregon: How Do We Keep Local Journalism Alive?" She reflects on the challenges and opportunities facing local journalism today. In an era where information is abundant yet the truth is hard to sift through, local journalism stands as a lighthouse guiding our communities through storms of misinformation and polarization. It's about more than just news; it's about creating a well-informed community that's engaged, empowered, and connected. We invite you to read the full article and join the conversation on how we can collectively ensure the future of local journalism. Your insights, experiences, and support are invaluable as we navigate these transformative times together. Let's champion the cause of credible, comprehensive, and community-focused reporting for a stronger, more unified Oregon. 🔗 Read the article here https://lnkd.in/gAYUzsKm #LocalJournalism #MediaInnovation #CommunityEngagement #EOmediagroup #SeattleTimes
