Today, we're highlighting a massive category within retail that still severely under indexes on ecommerce penetration - the $2T Consumer Packaged Goods segment. Our initial hypothesis that COVID would result in a mass digital grocery movement hasn't fully materialized as expected. Despite digital grocery’s strong growth off a small base, ecommerce adoptions for food & beverage (7%) and health & beauty (18%) still underperform that of other retail categories (41%). Hey all! For the past nine months, a team of wildly talented people (special thanks to Nicholas Alan Brown and Victor Quinn) and I have been working on Texture (www.texturehq.com). Although there’s a lot to be said about being heads down working, I’m excited to finally tell you all more about it. First what is it? Texture is a data platform that enables conversations between devices and systems on the energy grid. The push towards renewables and electrification is adding computers to the grid faster than we did to the internet.  As it should, this is attracting a ton of innovation and companies working on really cool tech for energy.  But like the early days of ecommerce and fintech, they’re building without the support of standards and shared tools. This is where Texture comes in.  We’re building in energy, but we’re solving connectivity and technology stack challenges that we’ve all seen before. Here’s how we’ll do it: Unifying data: Centralize, standardize and synthesize data from devices, internal systems, third-party data sources and energy markets. Monitoring: Understand your network, better than ever. Centralized monitoring for you to find anomalies and optimize device performance. Streaming: Send data anywhere, anytime.
