Here's our sales account manager Jessica Meno stopping by our active job sites in Sacramento with Bill Lam, our Bay Area sales manager, and Edi, an Essel field superintendent. 👷♂️ She wanted to introduce them to some of our clients in the area and see if any of them needed any additional help from Essel. We think it's important to consistently stop by our job sites and build those relationships in-person.     Savanna’s interview wasn't like the others. She interviewed ME. Most candidates ask a few standard questions... Savanna came prepared with sharp, insightful questions about our company. She wanted to know everything: our culture, our challenges, our vision for the future. I was impressed. But more than that, I was intrigued. I sensed a deeper potential in her, a knack for data collection and analysis that went beyond the recruiter role she applied for. So, I gave her a challenge – a project completely unrelated to recruiting and said, “Hey, can you figure this out for me?” She was so excited to do it, and exceeded all expectations. I had to ask, "Do you actually enjoy this more than recruiting?" She said, “Well, no. I love to recruit.” She insisted she loved recruiting, but her enthusiasm for the project spoke volumes. It turns out, Savanna had a wealth of untapped talents. And we needed them. We gave her more projects, more responsibility, and she thrived. With minimal training, she tackled complex tasks, leveraging ChatGPT, instructional videos, and sheer determination to learn quickly. A lot of times when she'd get something done, I'd be like, “Wow, I had no idea you knew how to do this?” She's like, “Yeah, a week ago, I didn't either. I watched videos and figured it out.” I loved that. That's the kind of initiative and drive that can't be taught. The most valuable employees aren't always the ones who fit perfectly into a pre-defined box. Sometimes, the best way to discover talent is to give people the space to explore their own potential. I’m so proud to have Savanna as a member of the E-Team!
