In 2022 environmental tax revenue in the EU amounted to €317.2 billion, a 4% decrease compared with €330.2 billion recorded in 2021. 📉💰 🔹 The decline from 2021 to 2022 was primarily due to a decrease in energy tax revenues (€243 billion in 2022). 🔹 Pollution and resource taxes increased by 10% (+€1.2 billion) and transport taxes registered a small uptake of 1% (+€809 million). 🔸 At EU level in 2022, households contributed with 45% of the total environmental tax revenues. 🔸 Across EU countries, households contributed from 60% in 🇩🇰 Denmark to 14% in 🇧🇬 Bulgaria. In the EU, the real estate sector employed 2.7 million people in 2021, representing 1.7% of total employment in the business economy. 🏡 The sector contributed €267.5 billion in value added, accounting for 2.8% of value added created by the EU’s business economy.
