Evergreen Health and Community Access Services are excited to share that we received $1 million in funding for our new health care facility coming to the corner of Kensington and Bailey Avenues from New York State’s Restore New York Communities Initiative. “Evergreen Health is grateful for funding from Governor Kathy Hochul and New York State, said Ray Ganoe, president and CEO, Evergreen Health. “The new healthcare facility will provide access to quality medical care and supportive services within Buffalo’s 14215 zip code and ensure unconditional care is accessible to communities historically underserved by the healthcare system.” Restore New York supports municipal revitalization efforts with funds to reinvigorate communities and generate new residential and economic opportunities statewide. “Success means saving lives, period,” said Emma Fabian, associate vice president harm reduction services, Evergreen Health. “Communities must have a variety of tools and interventions that can appropriately meet people where they are, typically referred to as harm reduction.” Emma recently sat down with Patrick Kelly, producer, WNED[MC1] PBS, and was featured in the second episode "Understanding the Science, the Stigma, and How to Save Lives" as part of the "Overdose Epidemic" docuseries produced by Patrick Kelly, WNED PBS. The episode originally aired on March 29 and will continue to be broadcast. The episode underscores the vital role of addiction science, the importance of reducing stigma of addiction, and the necessity of harm reduction tools in addressing the overdose crisis. It features interviews by Emma Fabian, Dr. Joshua Lynch, a national leader in addiction medicine, MATTERS Network, and Dr. Gale Burstein, Erie County health commissioner. We're excited to share that our plans for CAS Ken-Bailey, the new healthcare hub coming to the corner of Kensington and Bailey Avenues, were approved during last night's City of Buffalo Planning Board meeting! As you can see from executive director of Community Access Services Kim Brown and chief strategy officer of Evergreen Health Justin Azzarella’s smiles, this is a very exciting step towards health equity in the 14215 area.   Kim and Justin have been working hard to share the CAS Ken-Bailey with the community, and recently spoke with WKBW about how the services the CAS Ken-Bailey project will bring, including a pharmacy, food pantry, and space for community organizations to lease, will help the community better meet their health and wellness needs. Kim says, “if we remove some of those barriers here, that's one less thing that someone has to worry about and they can care about their overall health.” Watch the full interview at https://lnkd.in/gDkeGErh
