At last week's National GHS Research Conference, Zipline's government research partners debuted a study we co-authored with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) about the impact of drone logistics on maternal health outcomes in the Ashanti Region. The study found that Zipline reduced maternal mortality by a staggering 56.4%, increased prenatal visits by 19.9%, and increased in-facility births by 25%. This was achieved not only because Zipline and the GHS made blood available on-demand, but because more regular availability of medical supplies increased patient confidence in the health system, causing mothers to visit health facilities more often for care needed throughout their pregnancies.
