Keith Jones and Susan Casnocha have supported Food Outreach since 2022. They were immediately impressed with how Food Outreach was not a traditional food pantry, but instead an intervention providing critical dietetic services alongside nutrition education. In 2023, Keith and Susan announced a major gift to the agency to form The Casnocha and Jones Dietetic and Nutrition Services Fund. This unique fund now supports Food Outreach’s registered dietitians in a variety of ways including the ability to attend national dietetics conferences alongside their peers. “The endowment is something for the future, and there may be other opportunities within the organization that could also use help. We’re excited to announce that our new blast freezer is up and running! After nearly 25 years of service, we replaced our old freezer with the help of Federal ARPA funding from the City of St. Louis. The previous unit, which stored over 8 million meals during its lifetime, has been upgraded to a larger freezer with 40% more capacity. Yesterday, Food Outreach had the pleasure of hosting volunteers from Enterprise Mobility. They assisted in our grocery center and worked with Chef Vincent in the kitchen to cook and pack our scratch-prepared entrees and sides. We are incredibly grateful for your support! It is through the dedication of our volunteers that we can provide over 500,000 meals to nearly 2,000 individuals in the St. Louis area who are living with food insecurity and chronic illness. Rich Kluesner, a board member, has consistently attended Food Outreach’s signature event, A Tasteful Affair, since 1993. In 1994, he began volunteering at the Saturday cook and pack sessions at Union Avenue Christian Church. Since then, he has been a dedicated volunteer, donor, and passionate advocate for Food Outreach. Additionally, Rich has included Food Outreach as a beneficiary in his estate planning. He believes that legacy gifts are crucial for ensuring the future stability of Food Outreach and their capacity to continue offering nutritional support to community members facing food insecurity and a chronic illness.
