Congratulations to the City of Lubbock: Their Twin Water Tower Project has won an 2024 Illumination Award for Outdoor Lighting Design from the #Dallas chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society. Our Electrical Engineers, Dan Koss and Cihan Barnett, worked with the City to design lighting that illuminates the City’s logos while preserving night skies and reducing light pollution. The #energy-efficient lighting for the two new 2-million-gallon elevated storage tanks blends with the surrounding environment. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gUy9xkgZ

Give a round of a-paws for our Real Estate team, as they demonstrated our #ServeAlways value by supporting the #FortWorth Animal Hope rescue shelter! The team raised $193 to purchase essential supplies such as treats, toys, blankets and cleaning supplies for the nonprofit, helping Animal Hope continue to give furry friends a safe haven before moving on to their furever homes.

It may be summer, but the recent appearance of school supplies at stores got members of our #SanAntonio office thinking about how much we enjoyed supporting students in the ACE Mentor Program of San Antonio TX. The program offers exposure to the #AEC industry and helps students jumpstart their careers. Several of our #stormwater, #water/wastewater master planning and #bridge services #engineers volunteered with teams of high school students interested in #architecture, #engineering and #construction careers to guide them in a seven-month-long mock design project in response to a real-world challenge. Before there was Freese and Nichols, there was the Holly Pump Station. The station was designed in 1892 by Major John Hawley, who would found Freese and Nichols two years later, and remains central to the water supply for #FortWorth 130 years later. Our most recent updates to the facility, now the Holly Water Treatment Plants, improved #water purity and taste for the 1.3 million Fort Worth-area residents who drink the water today. Who knew our staff and their families from our #Rogers, AR, office would be fishing for tech treasures on a weekend morning, walking the #RazorbackGreenway and picking up trash? They found a smartphone and a PlayStation 4 – talk about a smart find! Serving our #communities truly streams from the heart. #ServeAlways #ATrailForEveryone

How many #engineers does it take to build a better side-scan #sonar tool? Working with a research and development grant, Freese and Nichols partnered with a 16-member team of Texas Christian University #engineering seniors (plus their instructors) to refine a sonar surveying craft. The students brainstormed, researched materials, collaborated, tested, wrote code and a user manual, and produced a tool that met all the required criteria. Best of all, they learned the joy of design and solving hard problems. And we got a craft that can perform underwater surveys more economically than expensive tools on the market. Getting chest-deep in #conservation, our #Lafayette and #NewOrleans teams joined forces with the Conservation Club at Moncus Park to protect the 100-acre urban oasis. This volunteer event aimed to eliminate invasive species from the water filtration shelf in the park’s #stormwater detention pond. From pulling Climbing Hempvine to preserving native Pickerel Weed, our crew showed true dedication to protecting their #environment and serving their #community!
