Fall is quickly approaching and in #Georgia that means one of the best parts of the year is finally here; football season! It's #GameDay, #GoDawgs! How do you like to commemorate your favorite athletes or show your support for the home team? Whether amateur or pro, jerseys are a great way to do both. Did you or a family member play #HighSchoolSports or #CollegeSports? Did you get a game-worn or signed jersey from your favorite player? Instead of sticking it in the closet and not wearing it again, think about framing it! There are multiple advantages to this plan: 1) Visibility 2) #PledgeofAllegiance to your team(s) 3) Reduced smell (What? You know you didn't wash that jersey...that washes out all the skill!) You know, you guys have heard about or seen a lot of Adam over the past 6 months or so. We think it's about time to meet some of the other team members that you might get to work with, or who will be working with your art. Since we're talking about Women's Equality, first up is Jenni! Jenni has been working for Friedman's for almost 3 years. In addition to helping customers, she's our primary mat-maker, showing great skill when it comes to multiple opening mats and mounting objects. She also is our main graphics and social media person - most of the pictures and videos you see have been edited by her, and she helps Adam make the words make sense. In her spare time, Jenni enjoys sewing and crafting as part of her pre-17th century historic recreation hobby. She also likes to end the day cuddling on the couch with her husband and two dogs. We're so glad to have Jenni as a part of our team here. If you've worked with her, you know why. #Politics is a hot button issue, especially during an #election year, and we're not getting involved in that. We think what we can all agree on is that #voting is a right and privilege that all eligible people should be doing. With #WomensEqualityDay coming up this Monday, we've had a couple customers rightfully feel that a woman's right to vote is something worth commemorating. If you're interested in finding out more, check out the non-partisan @LeagueofWomenVoters, who advocate for voting rights and access for all kinds of people, not just women. We have a local chapter for #CoastalGeorgia. There are so many momentous occasions that can be remembered in a special way, ranging from personal accomplishments to cultural triumphs. We got asked recently if we do "corporate gifts". Of course we do! For the sake of privacy, we can't name all the local companies we do gifts for, but suffice it to say that our work has been flown and floated all over the world. Some of the most common pieces we do are retirement gifts, where the coworkers are able to sign the mat with well-wishes before we put it all together. Despite the massive number of these we've done over the years, we can't find any pictures. Gonna have to work on that one... Other corporate gifts might include groundbreakings (with either mini or full size shovels!), ribbon cuttings (including pieces of the ribbon!), photo collages of accomplishments, or for VIPs - something that commemorates their trip to our fair city. Out of the 10 collections that we ordered (excluding the #Prisma #acrylic set), our fantastic customers have picked frames from 5 of them! So far, the most popular one has been #Raku - although we're only showing one piece here, we've used several from the collection. After that is #Tappo - in this case, the #cork frame is acting as a liner for an @LarsonJuhl #Spencer frame (another very popular collection). #Forged, #Oxide, and #Sumi have also shown their worth so far. #Luna, #Kubik, #Harbour, #JellyBella, and #Bungalow are still waiting to be told they're beautiful, too. With many of their frames being #madeinItaly, you know that the dedication and craftsmanship are second to none. Some of their lines showcase unique designs and shapes, making for a fun experience and expression. A lot of our customers come in saying that they really want something framed, but that they don't want to spend a lot of money, so they ask us for a "simple black or white frame with a white mat" thinking that it'll be the least expensive option. Now, don't get us wrong - black and white frames and mats are timeless and have their places, but they're not always the least expensive options, and they're certainly not always the best options for the piece. Adding a dash of color by changing up the frame and/or using an accent mat brings the piece to life and lets you express a little bit of your wild side at the same time. Contrasting colors can enhance small details and make things pop, while coordinating colors can make the whole shebang seem like a single unified piece, making it seem like the art and the frame were created to be soulmates in this crazy, crazy world of ours. These examples show a variety of ways to put a little flair in your artwork to make it yours. And the best part is that we have options to do that at all price points.
