As we close the Olympic chapter and gear up for the Paralympics (Aug 28 – Sep 8, 2024), we’re celebrating the incredible achievements of Black women this Olympic season. Athletes like A’ja Wilson, Brittney Griner, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Gabby Thomas, Tara Davis-Woodhall, Sha’Carri Richardson, Lauren Scruggs, Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Rebeca Andrade, and Annette Echikunwoke have left us in awe with their unmatched athleticism. Hello from Philly! CFF Director of Programs and Strategy Ariel Jacobson joined Fondation CHANEL for the Chanel Ensemble convening in Philadelphia, PA. We shared space with fellow intermediaries like Black Feminist Fund, Disability Inclusion Fund (Borealis Philanthropy) and The New York Women's Foundation, as well as with CFF grantee partners like Girls for Gender Equity (GGE), Miami Workers Center and Tahirih Justice Center. Together, we explored building connection, leadership, and storytelling to advance gender justice, including ending sexual violence in the US and transnationally.

22 years strong, and our journey continues! 💪 Did you know that in 2004, Paul Robeson H.S. invited GGE to create a program for high school girls, leading to the birth of Sisters in Strength? The inaugural cohort made waves, organizing fundraisers for domestic violence shelters and empowering workshops on economic empowerment, college readiness, and legal issues. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863, it wasn't until June 19, 1865, that freedom reached enslaved people in Texas.
